Aly Raisman gets wedding proposal from fan

Aly Raisman is a gold-medal winning gymnast with her fair share of fans and admirers, but it seems she’s also prone to creative proposals.

Raisman, who according to the Huffington Post was asked to prom last spring by a long-time friend who used an elaborate set up with Christmas lights, was back to school shopping at an Office Depot store in L.A. and her trip included and autograph signing session. According to the US Weekly, during the autograph signing session a young male fan got down on one knee and proposed to marry the 18-year old gymnast with a candy Ring Pop for a ring.

Aly Raisman reportedly smiled and accepted — the Ring Pop, not the marriage proposal — but didn’t send the fan away empty handed.

“He got down on one knee and then Harry, my manager, was like ‘she’s too (young to) get married.’” Raisman said. “I still took the ring pop and I gave him a picture.”

Raisman, who won a team gold with Fierce Five teammates Kyla Ross, McKayla Maroney, Gabby Douglas and Jordyn Wieber, had another memorable encounter with a fan at the event.

Zap2it.com reports that when a young fan approached Raisman with the news that she’d won a gold medal for her floor exercise at a competition, Raisman responded, “Me too! High five!”

Aly Raisman was at the Office Depot as part of a charity event where she helped children shop for back to school supplies. Raisman’s whirlwind of post-Olympic publicity continued shortly thereafter with a trip to throw out the first pitch at a Boston Red Sox game.
