Anti-Trump Comments Get Glenn Beck Suspended From His Radio Show

Christian media icon Glenn Beck was suspended from his syndicated SiriusXM radio show this week following controversial anti-Trump comments made by author Brad Thor, a guest on the show.

SiriusXM said Thor’s anti-Trump comments during an interview with Beck last week could be construed as advocating support for an assassination of Donald if he’s elected president, and that’s something the station can’t support, reports CNN.

“Comments recently made by a guest on the independently produced Glenn Beck Program, in our judgment, may be reasonably construed by some to have been advocating harm against an individual currently running for office, which we cannot and will not condone.”

Beck, a stout #NeverTrump supporter, was interviewing conservative fiction author Brad Thor, who compared Trump to a Latin American dictator who he feared would suspend the U.S. Constitution and declare martial law if he was elected. In that doomsday scenario, removing Trump through impeachment and other legal means wouldn’t be an option, reports Reason.

“With the feckless, spineless Congress we have, who will stand in the way of Donald Trump overstepping his constitutional authority as president? If Congress won’t remove him from office, what patriot will step up and do that?…If he oversteps that, how do we get him out of office?”

Since the interview with Christian media icon, Thor has denied advocating for Trump’s assassination, saying the conversation with Beck was merely hypothetical and had no basis in reality. The fiction author claims he was approaching the idea like he would a plot line in one of his books, but the station remains upset over his on-air comments.

For now, SiriusXM has suspended Beck and invited David Webb to take over the Christian media icon’s 9 a.m. to noon slot on Patriot Channel 125 while the station evaluates the show’s position in its lineup.

It’s worth noting that Glenn Beck says he had vacation scheduled this week before SiriusXM decided to suspend him for the same week, according to his website GlennBeck.com.

Beck has been an outspoken critic of Donald Trump since the real estate billionaire began his White House campaign. In the early days of the Republican presidential primary, Beck came out as a Ted Cruz supporter; he even went so far as to say the Texas senator had been anointed by God to save America, according to his website.

“I’m pretty sure the Bible doesn’t describe casino-owning billionaires who think it’s perfectly moral to murder children for revenge as the ideal leader people should follow.”

Then in May, Beck said Trump would probably become the next U.S. president. The surprise comments weren’t a show of support, however; the media icon was actually expressing his disgust at an American electorate that would unite behind a leader he has compared to Hitler.

Now, Beck has waded back into the #NeverTrump waters with an attack on Marco Rubio for his support of Trump. Beck blasted Rubio on Facebook for the Florida senator’s sudden change of heart on the candidate he previously called a “con artist, liar and danger to the republic.”

The conservative talk show host went on to question Rubio’s sincerity and question whether the former Republican presidential candidate is now running for a VP spot on Trump’s campaign ticket.

Glenn Beck’s TheBlaze, which he founded after being forced to leave Fox News after he proclaimed that Barack Obama hated all white people, has been hemorrhaging money and in April was forced to lay off 40 people as part of a bank bailout.

What do you think? Should Glenn Beck have been suspended from his radio show for author Brad Thor’s anti-Trump comments?
