Walt Disney World 2016: What’s New This Summer?


Walt Disney World is always an exciting vacation destination. With the summer 2016 season officially here, it’s slated to be more exciting than ever before. Here’s a brief rundown, in regard to some of the newest additions to Mickey’s world. Honestly, there’s no better time to start packing your bags. You don’t want to miss a single minute!

Frozen Ever After

Probably one of the most anticipated new Walt Disney World attractions, according to What Culture, is Frozen Ever After. Housed in Epcot’s Norway Pavilion, the musical boat ride takes Anna and Elsa lovers on a trip through Arendelle, the Troll Valley, and Elsa’s Ice Palace.

But, guess what? The fun doesn’t stop there. After the ride is over, guests can make their way to the Royal Sommerhus to meet Anna and Elsa in person. To make things as realistic as possible, the original Frozen cast recorded the songs and the dialogue for the attraction. Frozen Ever After is on track to open sometime in June.

Princess Elena of Avalor

Speaking of Disney princesses, there’s a new one in town. Princess Elena of Avalor will be making her Walt Disney World debut in August. The adventurous 16-year-old, who’s even going to have her own Disney Channel show, will spend her days protecting her kingdom from an evil sorceress. You’ll also meet some of Elena’s magical friends.

Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular

Star Wars fans rejoice! The centerpiece of the growing Walt Disney World Star Wars attraction is opening this summer. Located near Hollywood Studio’s Chinese Theatre, Star Wars junkies can watch a spectacular production of space travel, lightsaber wars, fireworks, and more. Of course, music from the famous franchise will accompany each show.

Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire

Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire is Walt Disney World’s newest stage show. The production is replacing the Magic Kingdom’s Dream Along with Mickey, which ran for 10 years. Also slated to begin sometime in June, Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire is packed with dance numbers, stunts, and lots of fireworks.

The show centers around Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and Goofy as they travel around the world to invite royalty to the festival. Rumor has it Anna, Elsa, and Olaf will be in attendance. According to Huffington Post, a quote on the official Disney Blog sums the show up like this.

“It celebrates the unique stories of the citizens who make up this magical kingdom and the wonderful things that can happen when we try new things, go to new places and get to know new friends.”

Toy Story Mania Improvement

Although the Toy Story Mania attraction is not new, for the summer 2016 season, it is improved! If you’ve ever waited in line, to ride this popular attraction, you know how long the wait can be. To rectify the situation, a third track has already been added to accommodate more riders.
