Glenn Beck Suspended By SiriusXM Radio Over Threats

Glenn Beck has been that polarizing conservative talk show and media personality that has spent the past 8 years criticizing President Obama and all other liberal politicians and activists. But on his SiriusXM radio show, his host company felt like he and a guest took their conservative bias a little too far and suspended Glenn Beck for the on-air comments.

For those who were unaware, Glenn Beck is currently in hot water for comments that were made on his show by a guest, Brad Thor, that directly threatened the life of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, according to the Wrap.

This is kind of a weird situation for Glenn Beck, who has normally come to every conservative GOP candidate’s side and rallied in support of them against any Democratic candidate or an independent liberal candidate. But this situation with Beck seems to really show the amount of internal conflict within the GOP establishment and the voices that are being silenced against any established party candidate that does not reflect the views of more extreme conservative party members, which could also include members of the Tea Party.

On the Glenn Beck syndicated radio show, Beck hosted Thor in a segment where his guest really seemed to be going off the rails about Trump’s potential presidency. Although Thor did not make a specific threat to Donald Trump’s life, he phrased his wording in a way that seemed to be a call to action for “patriots” that support his cause to come out and find a way to remove Trump from office, should Trump be elected of course.

“If Congress won’t remove him (Donald Trump) from office, what patriot will step up and do that if, if, he oversteps his mandate as president, his constitutional-granted authority, I should say, as president,” Thor said on Glenn Beck’s SiriusXM radio show. “If he oversteps that, how do we get him out of office? And I don’t think there is a legal means available. I think it will be a terrible, terrible position the American people will be in to get Trump out of office because you won’t be able to do it through Congress.”

Although Thor did not come right out and say that he wanted one of his conservative “patriots” to shoot Donald Trump once he is (presumably) in office, his words made it quite clear that if he is elected to office, he will need to be forcibly removed by any means necessary.

But what made the situation much worse is that Glenn Beck did nothing to quell Thor’s words. He did not immediately shoot down what Thor said, but instead continued on with the conversation. On a different broadcast of his show, Glenn Beck did not claim to envision Thor’s statement as one that threatened Donald Trump’s life. Instead, Beck described something that did not appear to be in any way related to the statements that Thor said.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington — Jimmy Stewart standing there all alone on the Senate floor, saying, ‘I’ll just keep talking. Somebody’s gotta hear me!’ That’s what I heard,” Glenn Beck cited as the way he envisioned Thor’s statement.

But SiriusXM was not buying what Glenn Beck was selling, and they have officially taken action against Beck for not doing more to stop or condemn Thor’s statement. They have released a statement on Glenn Beck’s suspension.

“SiriusXM encourages a diversity of discourse and opinion on our talk programs. However, comments recently made by a guest on the independently produced Glenn Beck Program, in the company’s judgment, may be reasonably construed by some to have been advocating harm against an individual currently running for office, which SiriusXM cannot and will not condone,” the statement read. “For that reason, The Glenn Beck Program is suspended from our Patriot channel for the coming week. SiriusXM is committed to a spirited, robust, yet responsible political conversation and believes this action reflects those values.”

There has been no official response from Glenn Beck or his representatives to the media on this issue as of yet.
