Mark Salling Fired From ‘Gods And Secrets’ After Child Porn Indictment, Is His Career Over?

Mark Salling has been axed from his role in Gods and Secrets as a result of his child porn indictment. Director Adi Shankar had said earlier during the investigation that if Salling was indicted, he would be fired from the project, and now it is official. No project wants to be associated with something as vile as child pornography, and Shankar is doing his best to distance himself and the project from Salling’s alleged criminal behavior. Shankar is personally paying for re-shoots of all of Salling’s scenes and will be donating a portion of the movie’s proceeds to a charity that helps abused children.

According to the Inquisitr, Mark Salling has officially been indicted on two counts of child pornography involving girls under the age of 12 in sex acts. Although Salling claimed that he had been set up by an ex-girlfriend, that has since proven not to be the case. Hundreds of images were found on Salling’s computer and an external drive, and Salling is supposed to turn himself in by June 3 for his arraignment.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Gods and Secrets will move on without Salling due to the child pornography indictment. Director Adi Shankar admits that he has parted ways with Salling and hopes that the actor can find some “inner peace.” Shankar hopes that some good can come as a result of the revelation involving Salling and the child porn charges.

“Hopefully some good will come of all of this and I pray that when the dust has settled, the hyper-connectivity of the information age that has brought to light the transgressions of several public figures, will also force us to look within our society to identify and eliminate the root cause of the rape culture we exist in.”

If convicted on the two federal charges of child pornography, Mark Salling faces a possible 20 years in prison. Even if he is not convicted, the stink of these accusations will likely tank his career, as people will always wonder what Salling was really doing with such images on his computer.

The U.S. Attorney involved in the Salling case, Eileen Decker, wants people to remember that the images in Salling’s possession were not just photos, but images and film of real, actual children.

“Young victims are harmed every time an image is generated, every time it is distributed and every time it is viewed.”

Mark Salling is supposed to be arraigned on June 3.

TMZ is reporting that Shankar, the director of Gods and Secrets, is actively looking to replace Mark Salling in the production. Shankar had promised back in January that if Salling was indicted, he would be fired from the production, and he has stayed true to his word, going a step further to take a stand against the exploitation of children around the world.

“Child abuse is a cultural cancer whose tentacles penetrate far deeper than a single celebrity caught with illicit images on his computer.”

Entertainment Weekly is confirming the canning of Mark Salling from Gods and Secrets and recalls that Adi Shankar promised that this would be the result if Salling’s situation went beyond accusations. Shankar didn’t want to make a knee-jerk judgment but wanted to wait to see if Salling would be indicted.

“I won’t feed our growing pitchfork culture. I’m going to wait for all the facts to arrive and if in fact these allegations are true, I will immediately take action which includes removing his scenes from the project.”

The charges against Mark Salling are now being handled in a federal court.
