New York Man Allegedly Beat Man To Death With Tire Iron For Trying To Rape Wife

A New York man, Mamadou Diallo, 61, is being charged with manslaughter after he allegedly beat a man, who reportedly tried to rape his wife, to death with a tire iron, according to CBS News. At approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday, police officials arrived at an apartment home in the Bronx on Washington Avenue after receiving a 911 call.

It was reported that a 53-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was home alone with her daughter when she heard a knock at the door. Believing that it was her son, Abdul, she quickly opened the door but was surprised to find a 43-year-old man, Earl Nash, standing at the front door.

Within seconds, Nash forced his way inside of the woman’s apartment, locked the door behind him, and began taking off his pants while saying, “I’m going to rape you.”

The woman desperately offered Nash money so that he would leave, but he refused. Sources say that he then “tore off all her clothes and bashed her repeatedly in the head with a chair as she fought for her life.”

When she was able to get free after fighting her attacker for 20 minutes, she called her husband, Diallo, who was sitting in his car outside of the apartment building getting ready to leave for work. Without hesitation, Diallo, who had 19 prior arrests and had been released from prison last year, reportedly ran inside the Bronx apartment building to help his wife.

However, Diallo, who is originally from Guinea in West Africa, caught up with his wife’s attacker on the sixth floor, and a brawl broke out in the elevator. According to Diallo’s 52-year-old brother, Ibrahima Diallo, the attacker instigated the fight. Ibrahima went on to say that “the guy punched him, he started fighting. This man said he’s going to kill him, kill his family.”

The Daily Mail reported that Diallo beat the man to death with a tire iron for trying to rape his wife. When paramedics arrived at the scene, Nash, who was previously arrested for “drugs, arson, unlawful imprisonment, robbery and assault,” was transported to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries three hours later.

Following the elevator attack, Diallo was arrested and is currently facing manslaughter charges.

“I think any husband would do the same thing as what he did,” Abdul told reporters. “You see your wife being attacked and sexually harassed, you’re going to beat on the person. You are not just going to sit there and let the person leave or whatever. So I don’t think he’s wrong.”

Diallo’s son went on to say that he was angry that his neighbors didn’t come to his mother’s rescue when she was being attacked.

“I’m mad because 20 minutes and nobody heard the commotion that was going on? Nobody came in to see what was going on.

“They just came at the end when my dad was fighting with the guy. It was too late.”

The couple’s son, Abdul, stated that although he was “shocked, mad, and had many different emotions going through my mind, he was relieved his father stepped in” to protect his mother from the man who reportedly tried to rape her.

Neighbor Katiatou Diallo, 38, who reporters say is not related to the suspect, came to Diallo’s defense, stating that “he has a right to defend his wife. What are you going to do if somebody comes in and tries to rape your wife?”

Another neighbor, Amadu Kamara, said she was stunned after learning that her neighbor had beaten his wife’s would-be rapist to death with a tire iron. She said he was a quiet and “fine gentleman” who is a “hard-working person. You don’t see him getting into any kind of trouble.”
