‘Alaskan Bush People’ Awkward Family Reunion With Twila

Friday night’s episode of Alaskan Bush People brought the long-awaited arrival of Twila, Billy Brown’s daughter from a previous marriage. Social media has been spreading gossip about her existence for weeks in Alaskan Bush People fan groups, but Twila finally made her first appearance on Alaskan Bush People for all the world to see.

Before Twila arrived in Browntown, Billy Brown sat his family down and told them that Twila had reached out to him and wanted to come visit the family. Discovery shared a short video of the Alaskan Bush People campfire talk on their site.

In an Alaskan Bush People interview, Billy talks about how Twila was born when he was only a teenager. According to Billy, when his marriage to Twila’s mother dissolved, he tried to take Twila with him, but the family refused to let that happen. Billy states both he and Ami sent Twila multiple letters over the years, and he always assumed she was receiving them and ignoring them. He later learned that Twila never received any of the letters, as her family kept them from her.

At one point during the episode, Billy states that he hasn’t heard from Twila in 30 years. When the Wolfpack then asked how old Twila was, it was shocking to hear Billy say she was 44-years-old, meaning he had heard from her around the age of 14-years-old. Many of the Brown children raised their eyebrows at this as well.

“I just don’t know if all the kids are gonna accept Twila. We’re a strong family, but this is a tough situation.”

Although there seemed to be a little hesitation from some of the Wolfpack, in the end, they all agreed it would be a good idea for Twila to come and visit Browntown.

In typical Alaskan Bush People style, Twila arrived in Alaska on a float plane. To say Twila is nothing like the rest of the Wolfpack would be a bit of an understatement. She stepped off the plane with long, bleach blonde hair, caked on makeup, and a heavy smokers voice. Billy immediately asked for a hug, which felt very awkward to viewers. Billy, Gabe, and Bear then escorted Twila to Browntown on the skiff.

Once Twila made it to Browntown, it didn’t appear like she was really ready for the Alaskan Bush People lifestyle. She looked less than thrilled to see the outdoor shower and outhouse as Ami and Billy showed her around Browntown. She didn’t seem overly impressed with Matt’s tire house either.

At one point during Alaskan Bush People, Twila told Billy and Ami about the death of her daughter. She stated her daughter’s death was the catalyst for wanting to meet Billy and the rest of the Wolfpack. Twila was in a car accident with her 14-year-old daughter and a friend, and Twila was the only one who survived. Billy made a very odd comment during an interview about the death of his granddaughter.

“I was heartbroken when I heard about Twila losing her daughter, but even worse than that, I lost my first granddaughter.”

Later on Alaskan Bush People, Ami took Twila out for target practice. It appeared that they enjoyed the time together, but at the end, Ami made the entire encountered awkward by asking Twila to call her “mom.” To the surprise of many viewers, Twila said she wouldn’t have any problem calling Ami “mom.”

What did you think about Twila’s visit to Browntown? Do you think she will be returning to Browntown anytime soon? Leave your feedback in the comments below, and tune in for the next episode of Alaskan Bush People on Friday at 9/8c on Discovery.
