Donald Trump Is North Korea’s Candidate Of Choice: State News Endorses GOP Nominee

Since launching his candidacy to become the next President of the United States in June 2015, Donald Trump has managed to pick up endorsements from a number of high-profile figures. However, the candidate has now gained the support of one of the most controversial nations on Earth: North Korea. The country’s state media has seemingly endorsed Donald Trump as their candidate of choice in the upcoming presidential election, dismissing Hillary Clinton as “dull.”

According to Politico, an editorial published in the state’s newspaper describes Donald Trump as a “wise politician” and a “far-sighted presidential candidate.” Furthermore, considering all media is controlled by the government in North Korea, it’s more than fair to say that the comments are the official line of the country’s government.

As reported by NK News, North Korea as a country is typically hostile towards the United States and all of its prospective leaders. However, if these comments are to be believed, the country may have found a candidate that they’d be happy to work with in Donald Trump. However, his opponents will be quick to point out that an endorsement from a country well known for human rights violations under a brutal dictatorship isn’t a badge to wear with honor.

However, North Korea’s endorsement of the presumptive Republican nominee isn’t that much of a surprise. Speaking about the country in the past, Donald Trump has said that as president, he wouldn’t get involved in the war between North and South Korea. North Korea largely appear to have assumed that Donald Trump’s comments mean that he would pull U.S. forces out of South Korea and end the country’s backing of the southern state. Considering the ongoing feud between the two states, that’s undeniably something North Korea welcomes.

Hillary Clinton Vs. Donald Trump: Polls Show Many Millennial Voters Turning Towards Trump If They Can’t Have Sanders

The same editorial piece took aim at Donald Trump’s main opponent, Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, urging American voters not to elect her as President.

Speaking about Hillary Clinton, the editorial said, “The president that U.S. citizens must vote for is not that dull Hillary – who claimed to adopt the Iranian model to resolve nuclear issues on the Korean Peninsula – but Trump, who spoke of holding a direct conversation with North Korea.”

When it comes to dealing with North Korea, the Obama administration appears to be taking something of a patient approach. They’ve continued to quietly support South Korea while not looking to actively provoke the northern state. However, with this editorial piece, experts are claiming that Kim Jong-un’s state are looking to in turn provoke the U.S. by actively supporting Donald Trump, who himself has been incredibly vocal in criticizing Barack Obama and his party, to which Hillary Clinton belongs.

It remains to be seen whether or not North Korea will officially endorse Donald Trump or whether their leader will weigh in on the presidential election. However, considering how tightly controlled the state’s media is by their government, it’s not difficult to imagine that this endorsement comes from the DPRK.

Also worth noting is that it isn’t usually customary for nations to weigh in on the internal elections of other nations. With that in mind, North Korea’s endorsement of Donald Trump will be seen by many as an unwelcome intervention into the U.S. presidential election. At the same time, it’ll be interesting to see how Donald Trump reacts to the endorsement. However, the likely outcome will see the Republican presumptive nominee rebutting the endorsement of a state considered to be an enemy of the U.S.
