WWE News: Update On WWE Brand Split, Company Has No Idea Where Most Stars Will End Up Currently

With the huge announcement that WWE will be doing not just a live WWE SmackDown show each week but also a brand split once again, fans everywhere wanted to know where their favorite wrestlers would end up. On WWE RAW last night, the company was careful to not let any ideas out of the bag while they had Shane and Stephanie McMahon sort of dodge questions about the entire situation. The New Day asked what we all wanted to know: Would they be split, and where will people end up? The McMahon’s didn’t answer the questions.

The reason behind this is that WWE is unsure where they want to put everyone. However, one that they are not uncertain about is John Cena. According to Cageside Seats, WWE is planning to have Cena end up on the SmackDown brand. The reason: Ratings. Cena is a proven draw, and with the company shifting to people like Roman Reigns into the top guy position, Cena just becomes another top veteran.

Last night, he made sure to tell the world “the future goes through me.” The funny thing is, he’s right — it truly does. Rumor has it that WWE is planning to make SmackDown the more youthful show, where RAW would be for the more established stars. While guys like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and even Sami Zayn are all 30 years of age or older, they are known well enough that a spot on RAW in a top tier position would make sense.

Meanwhile, people like Kevin Owens and Cesaro are similar to this but will be on SmackDown because of the need of top talent. There are a lot of rumors regarding who will go where, but the real thing to pay attention do going forward might be the rivalries. If WWE starts fresh rivalries between now and WWE Battleground, there is a good shot that those people end up on the same show.

There is already rumors that AJ Styles will end up on SmackDown, which also happens to be the almost certain destination for Cena. Interestingly, AJ took Cena out last night along with Club members Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. There is a really good shot that all four could end up on SmackDown, but this may seal things up a bit more for their futures. There is also talk of Finn Balor ending up on SmackDown too. That makes The Club attack on Cena mean more too.

However, WWE is still unsure where everyone will end up. The reason for this is that like before, the brand split has to feature a good mixture of veteran talent along with new faces. They don’t want to overload one show with one or the other. While SmackDown is supposed to be the youthful show, they aren’t just going to put John Cena on the show and hope for the best with new faces.

Dean Ambrose and possibly Cesaro may end up on there because both are established stars but new enough for fans to not be tired of them. On top of this, WWE fans have begged to see each man get more opportunities. That will certainly happen with the brand split. WWE will allow talent to get the chances they are missing now. Guys like Ambrose and Cesaro could be World Champions if not for the talent they have to go through. With a brand split, the field is wide open for people to have major chances at the top.

While WWE is doing this due to USA Network wanting ratings to get better for both shows, especially SmackDown, this may actually be a mark in time that changes wrestling history for the good in WWE instead of remembering this year as possibly the least-watched era.
