Lily-Rose Depp: Why She Supports Her ‘Loving’ Father Amid Abuse Allegations

Lily-Rose Depp is coming to her father’s defense amid the domestic abuse allegations. She took to Instagram on Sunday, May 29, to call her father “the sweetest most loving person I know.”

Lily-Rose Depp shared a throwback photo of her younger self with her famous father, Johnny Depp. Although Lily-Rose didn’t directly call out the allegations, she claims that Johnny has “been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same.”

The 17-year-old came to her father’s defense one more time when she posted a screenshot from People’s website on Instagram, which quoted an LAPD officer saying there was no evidence of domestic violence when they responded to a call on Saturday, May 21.

This comes after the news that Depp’s wife, Amber Heard, filed for divorce. On Friday, May 27, she was heard saying in a Los Angeles court that Depp has physically and emotionally abused during “the entirety of our relationship.” She appeared in court with a bruise on her right cheek. Then, Heard was seen crying upon leaving the courthouse because the judge only granted her a temporary restraining order.

As of Friday, the judge has ordered that Depp is to stay 100 yards away from Heard, and said that the actress has a right to still stay and live inside their family home. Sources told E! Online that Lily-Rose will still keep in touch with Heard amid the domestic abuse allegations.

Lily-Rose Depp was first spotted since the divorce news on Thursday, May 26. The teen was seen walking through LAX airport with a red hoodie pulled up over her head and black large-framed sunglasses over her eyes. Reports claimed that Lily-Rose rushed back home to be by her father’s side. Meanwhile, Lily-Rose’s mother, Vanessa Paradis, was seen in the airport arrivals area smoking a cigarette and clutching a cell phone, according to the Daily Mail.

Both women were hounded by paparazzi who wanted their thoughts on Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s divorce. But Lily-Rose kept to herself as she walked with her arms crossed and a serious expression on her face. X17Online called out Lily-Rose for looking “grumpy,” but it’s obvious that the teen is going through a difficult time right now.

Not only did Lily-Rose Depp defend her father, but so did her mother. Vanessa Paradis said in a letter obtained by TMZ that the claims been made against Johnny are “outrageous.” The outlet posted a photo of her hand-written letter on Sunday and claimed it was written by Paradis, in which she describes her former boyfriend as a “loving person.”

Even though it’s clear that Lily-Rose Depp deeply loves her father and mother, she had no interest in following their footsteps, until she started working as a model. Lily-Rose admitted that she had no interest in becoming an actress, according to FemaleFirst.

“I mean, I never really thought I wanted to be an actress until I actually started working. So when that opportunity presented itself I was just like… I realized that’s what really makes me happy and that’s what makes me feel comfortable and everything. I just love losing myself in a character, I think it’s the most liberating job in the world.”

She claims that both of her parents are supportive of her new career choice.

“I’m very independent and my parents support me in whatever I do … I don’t think they would really be in the position to warn me against the industry.”

Lily-Rose recently walked the red carpet at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of her new film, The Dancer, in which she plays the role of American dancer Isadora Duncan. Additionally, she has been named as the face of Chanel’s new perfume, Chanel No. 5 L’Eau.

Over the weekend, she celebrated her 17th birthday with a bejeweled crown, especially designed for her by famed fashion designer Jeremy Scott. Here’s Lily-Rose with her friend, Sam Adams, and her colorful birthday crown.
