Listen To Snippet: Diplo Announces Justin Bieber, MØ Feature On Major Lazer’s ‘Cold Water’

If you’re a fan of Diplo, Justin Bieber, and/or the Danish singer MØ — it’s good times ahead. The EDM producer-DJ announced Bieber and MØ will both feature on an upcoming Major Lazer single called “Cold Water” this summer.

In fact, Diplo said the song will be the first single to roll out and will be “coming up in a couple of weeks.” He made the reveal during his Lazer Sound Beats 1 show on Saturday. To listen to that part of the show, click here.

Naturally, big things are expected of “Cold Water,” given that Major Lazer’s “Lean On” hit with MØ from the team’s 2015 Peace Is the Mission album crushed worldwide charts and was named by Spotify as the most streamed song of all time, with 783 million streams globally. It was the fifth best selling song of 2015, and the official music video drew over 1.39 billion views on YouTube as of May 2016.

Similarly, Justin Bieber’s collaborative “Where Are Ü Now” juggernaut with Diplo and his Jack Ü partner, Skrillex, went on to win a Grammy, generated 530 million Spotify streams globally, peaked at No. 8 on Billboard’s Hot 100 last July, and kickstarted the Biebs’ music comeback. The track first appeared on Jack Ü’s album last February.

Amid speculation about the sound and direction of “Cold Water,” a snippet of the song popped up online. It was played by Bieber’s crew when he visited a nightclub a few weeks ago.

Based on the brief teaser, Bieber, MØ, and Major Lazer’s jam is an addictive dub jam that seems perfect for the summer. With two big name singers on the record, it is likely an accompanying music video will also be made.

During his Beats 1 show, Diplo reflected on Peace Is The Mission’s success and revealed a new Major Lazer album is already in the works, while the trio tours this summer.

Meanwhile, Justin Bieber fans can expect more new music from the 22-year-old. Snippets of the Biebs’ remix of longtime pal Drake’s “One Dance” surfaced online this past weekend after the superstar partied at 1Oak’s pop up nightclub in Monaco, France, on the eve of the F1 Grand Prix.

Other partygoers posted clips from the night, which included the moment the track was played “for the first time anywhere,” as a DJ is heard saying in the second video linked below.

Drake’s original “One Dance” track features WizKid and Kyla, and appears on the Toronto rapper’s latest Views album. It’s the biggest single of Drake’s career, and is currently riding atop Billboard’s Hot 100 for a second non-consecutive week. Will Bieber’s remix face-off with the original for the song of the summer title? Time will tell.

The snippets showcase the Prince of Pop’s smooth vocals over a bouncy foot-tapper that sees Bieber venture further into a dancehall-meets-club sonic, similar to his previous huge Purpose album hits, “What Do You Mean?” and “Sorry.”

Bieber and Drizzy’s “One Dance” remix isn’t the first time the Canuck pals have teamed up in music. Rewinding it back to 2010, Drake made a cameo in the Bieb’s video for his signature hit, “Baby.” The pair also collaborated on “Right Here” on the younger star’s 2012 Believe album. Justin also put his spin on Drake’s “Hotline Bling” last year. The duo’s most recent hang-out saw the Biebs surprise the MC at his Toronto album release party in April.

To recap: Bieber and MØ’s “Cold Water” collaboration with Major Lazer and Bieber and Drizzy’s “One Dance” Drake remix are coming in hot.
