‘WWE Monday Night RAW’ Preview: John Cena Returns — Will He Be At ‘Money In The Bank’?

Is it any surprise that ultra-patriot John Cena makes his earlier-than-expected return to WWE Monday Night RAW on Memorial Day? Shane McMahon has been busy establishing the New Era of WWE Superstars and working alongside Stephanie McMahon to make it happen. Roman Reigns has captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and new faces like AJ Styles have been challenging for the biggest prize in the game.

Meanwhile, The New Day continue to dominate the tag team division. They have beaten the Vaudevillains and wait to find out who challenges them next. But most importantly, everyone in the WWE Universe is looking forward to next month’s Money in the Bank. Who will John Cena face at this year’s event? What matches will be added to the Ladder Match and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match that have already been booked? How will tonight’s WWE RAW play into all of that?

Below is a deeper look at WWE.com’s official Monday Night RAW preview for May 30. Each week, the site provides the WWE Universe with some borderline spoilers in regards to the assumed events that will take place on the WWE’s flagship program, live on the USA Network.

WWE Monday Night RAW Preview

As the WWE comes back through the Midwest, Monday Night RAW airs live from the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

What does John Cena have planned for his return?

The WWE Universe has gone almost the entire first five months of 2016 without seeing John Cena. He returned much sooner than doctors anticipated, and it can be assumed that he’ll jump right in.

There seems to be one of a few obvious choices for the direction WWE could take with Cena. There’s one final spot left in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, and adding Cena’s name to the mix could make it one of the most epic MITB matches of all time. Of course, for a megastar like Cena, getting involved with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is always an option. Then again, it is Memorial Day, so John could perform the patriotic duty of taking the United States Championship from Rusev.

Will former ‘brothers’ collide?

About a week before Cena returned, Seth Rollins surprised everyone by attacking Roman Reigns at WWE Extreme Rules. The Internet Wrestling Community missed Rollins more than they did Cena, and as Shane McMahon mentioned on WWE RAW last week, it’s the type of match-up that could headline WrestleMania 33.

While it seems unlikely that Rollins would take the strap from Reigns in his first big match since returning from injury, it will be interesting to see how things pan out as some of the biggest names on the company return amidst the uprising of the New Era.

Can The Showoff out-grapple The Lone Wolf?

During the Attitude Era, Chris Benoit challenged “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to a pure wrestling match. Despite the advantage obviously being in Benoit’s favor, Austin walked away with the win. Could Baron Corbin pull off a similar upset against Dolph Ziggler?

The program is a classic example of someone from the New Era challenging an established WWE Superstar who is arguably past their prime. No one expects Dolph Ziggler to make another serious run at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, while Corbin could be headlining WrestleMania in the next three or four years.

What’s going through Charlotte’s mind?

WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte may be a perfect example of the new sort of athlete with which the WWE has been filling their women’s division. She doesn’t quite have the mic skills of her legendary father, however, as was made obvious by the way the WWE Universe threw Charlotte off her game last week while she ripped into her two-time WWE Hall of Fame father Ric Flair.

Is the program with Natalya finished? If so, who will challenge Charlotte for the Women’s gold at Money in the Bank? And where will Dana Brooke fit into the scheme of things once Emma returns?

Is Dudleyville ‘S.A.W.F.T.’?

It looked like Enzo Amore and Big Cass were going to become the new No. 1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship before Enzo suffered a concussion against the Vaudevillains. After weeks of talking trash, the NXT call-ups will finally get in the ring with The Dudley Boyz on RAW tonight.

The winners of this match could definitely be in line for a match with The New Day at Money in the Bank for the WWE tag team straps.

Who will emerge as the final Money in the Bank Ladder Match participant?

So far, six of the seven participants for WWE’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match have been determined: Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Dean Ambrose, and Alberto Del Rio are already lined up for their chance to grab the MITB briefcase.

Will John Cena get a chance to earn that final spot? If so, who will his opponent(s) be? If it’s not Cena, who else could the WWE bring in to the match to add a little excitement?

Where To Watch

WWE Money in the Bank will air live on the WWE Network on Sunday, June 19 at 8/7c. The WWE Money in the Bank Kick-off Show begins at 7/6c.

WWE Monday Night RAW airs live on the USA Network at 8/7c, with the RAW Pre-Show airing on the WWE Network at 7:30/6:30c.
