Todd Akin can celebrate at least one perk from the massive fallout over his “legitimate rape” comments (if you subscribe to the whole “no such thing as bad news” mantra). A total 83% of registered voters know his controversial comments, despite the fact that Akin wasn’t a household name before making them, according to a new Public Policy Poll.

Additionally, a total of 85% respondents said that they disagree with Akin’s questionable comments, on which he has since backtracked. A measly 4% agree with his original stance that a woman’s body won’t biologically allow conception in cases of rape, according to Talking Points Memo. The legacy of Todd Akin is also still rippling throughout the political world. According to the AP, a Dutch parliamentary candidate cited Akin, agreeing with his comments on rape. “The chance of pregnancy is very small” in cases of rape, said Kees van der Staaij.

Also, Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch echoed calls for Akin’s resignation last week, agreeing with Akin’s critics that “Rape is a rape. I don’t know how you can categorize it, and it’s disgusting that Todd Akin would have tried to categorize it,” before apparently doing a 180 after being informed of Paul Ryan’s co-sponsored Akin abortion bill that attempted to categorize rape. “Well, I think there is a way to have a more forcible rape, the same way there are different types of assault.”
