The 2016 IPL cricket season comes to a close Sunday with a Grand Final that will stream live and is guaranteed to produce a first-time titlist, as Royal Challengers Bangalore, in their third IPL Final, battle Sunrisers Hyderabad playing their first, in just their fourth year in the tournament, for the championship of the world’s most popular T20 cricket league.

The matchup features a classic confrontation between bat and ball — with Bangalore boasting a trio of the world’s top batsmen in Virat Kohli, A.B. de Villiers and Chris Gayle — but thin in the bowling department — against the dominant bowling attack of Hyderabad led by 20-year-old Bangladesh sensation Mustafizur Rahman, as well as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, India international great Ashish Nehra and Australia’s Moises Henriques.
But Hyderabad’s batting lineup is a light one, leaning heavily on Captain David Warner, the Australia international veteran, who posted eight half-centuries in his team’s 16 games, including a stellar 93 when Sunrisers needed him most — in the final playoff qualifier on Friday, when Warner’s team sent table-topping Gujarat Lions home without a trophy.
If Warner suffers an early dismissal, Sunrisers will likely have little chance to top what is likely to be an impressive Banglaore score on the Royal Challengers home ground.

Sunrisers also face questions about the health of their star bowler, Mustafizur, who has now become known simply as “The Fizz.” The Bangladesh international was forced to miss Friday’s qualifier with a hamstring injury, and though he is expected to return for the Sunday Final, whether or not he will bowl at full effectiveness remains in question.

In the two matches between Sunrisers and Royal Challengers so far this IPL season, each team has come out on top once, with Bangalore winning by 45 runs back on April 12, and Hyderabad turning the tables to prevail by 15 on April 30.
Sunrisers limped toward the end of the group stage competition, dropping their final two games to Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders to fall from first to third place on the table.
But in the playoffs, they won their elimination match against Kolkata by 22, then got past Gujarat in a thriller, taking a four wicket win with just four balls remaining to move into the Final and a chance at the first IPL championship for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
