President Obama spoke to Gulf residents about Tropical Storm Isaac in a press conference today, basically using common sense but getting media buzz nonetheless. Don’t “tempt fate,” was his advice, a slogan that media outlets are seizing upon to concisely encapsulate everyone’s concerns over the storm.

“Now is not the time to tempt fate,” is the slogan being seized by mass media and social media alike. The president made that along with a few other comments at the White House following a briefing by Janet Napolitano and FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate, reports Newser.

“I encourage all residents of the Gulf Coat to listen to local officials and follow their directions, including if they tell you to evacuate. We’re dealing with a big storm. Now is not the time to tempt fate, and now is not the time to dismiss official warnings. You need to take this seriously.”

President Obama had earlier declared a state of emergency in Louisiana as Isaac works its way up from tropical storm to full-on hurricane. The National Hurricane Center is tracking the progress of the storm, and their Twitter feed is providing real-time updates on the storm with the hashtag #Isaac.
