Did Online Retailer Leak ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ Game Of The Year Edition By Listing The Game Prematurely?

Batman fans are hit with a little teaser as a listing on Amazon Germany reveals that a Batman: Arkham Knight Game of the Year Edition may be in the works. In the listing, the game Batman: Arkham Knight Game of the Year Edition is scheduled for release on July 28 of this year. The listing does suggest the game will be released for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It does not, however, mention anything about Batman: Arkham Knight Game of the Year Edition being available for PC gamers.

While the listing does say that it is available to be shipped to the United States, GameSpot reports that there does not appear to be a Game of the Year Edition for the U.S. version of Batman: Arkham Knight.

If this premature listing was not just a glitch and follows the formula of previous Batman: Arkham Knight video games, you can expect it to include Arkham Knight’s DLC.

To date, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has not made an official announcement regarding a Game of the Year Edition for Batman: Arkham Knight, so it is important to take this premature listing with a grain of salt. There is always the possibility the listing was an accident and the Game of the Year Edition does not exist.

Both of the previous Rocksteady-developed Batman: Arkham games including Arkham Asylum and Arkham City had Game of the Year editions. So, it is not too much of a stretch for Batman: Arkham Knight fans to hope there will be a Game of the Year Edition for this one as well.

Even if it turns out to be a mistake and not a real listing, Batman lovers are still looking forward to the release of Batman: Return to Arkham Remaster Collection which was officially announced for release on July 29 of this year.

According to IGN, the announcement by Warner Brothers confirmed that the collection would be made up of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City with all of the associated DLC content and Game of the Year Edition bonuses. This collection will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users. There have not been any discussions regarding whether or not PC gamers would also get to enjoy the release of this remastered collection.

A trailer was also released showing off some of the new looks of the games:

With the announcement of the Batman: Return to Arkham Remaster Collection, it was revealed that porting studio Virtuos (who was previously responsible for the Final Fantasy X and Heavy Rain remasters) has decided to move both of the games to Unreal Engine 4. This would be a first for the Arkham Knight game series as even the new generation Arkham Knight used Unreal Engine 3.

The upgrade to Unreal Engine 4 will allow the games in the remastered collection to feature “improved graphics, as well as upgraded models, environments, lighting, effects and shaders,” according to IGN.

Batman fans may recognize the release date as the release of the Batman: Return to Arkham Remaster Collection is scheduled to happen just a week after the digital release of Batman: The Killing Joke movie. Chances are pretty good that it is not a coincidence the game is following the movie, but a strategic way for Warner Brothers to try to make more money off of the release of both the movie and the game, IGN reported.

Do you think there is going to be a Batman: Arkham Knight Game of the Year Edition? Do you think it is going to be released in the U.S. as well? Or do you think the listing was an error made by the Amazon retailer in Germany?
