Khloe Kardashian Files For Divorce From Lamar Odom Amid His Boozing & Her Baby Hopes: Financial Support Shocker

Khloe Kardashian is citing “irreconcilable differences” in filing for divorce from Lamar Odom. Filed on Thursday, the court documents mark the second time that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has gone through this process, reported People.

Lamar wed Khloe in 2009, only one month after they met. However, after trying to cope with Odom’s cheating and substance abuse, Kardashian filed for divorce in December 2013.

The divorce had not been completed when Lamar almost died after overdosing in a brothel last October. Consequently, the reality TV star called off the proceedings.

As to why Khloe chose to file again now, a source told People that the divorce was always part of her long-term plan, with the delay only due to her desire to make sure it was the right time.

“This was always the plan. The divorce has never been officially off. Khloe was waiting for the timing to be right.”

As for what the 31-year-old Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has done to show her support for Lamar, 36, after his overdose? The source emphasized that she offered both financial and emotional support for months, from staying by his side in the hospital to assisting him with his move into a home rented in the same gated community where she lives.

“She was loyal for a long time and taking care of him, but she’s not a babysitter and needs to move on with her life,” another insider told People.

Describing the divorce as a “formality,” the source also revealed that Khloe continues to stay in touch with Lamar. However, she felt that although she “wishes him well,” it was the right time to wrap up the divorce.

“She’s there for him and they’re in regular contact and she wishes him well. She’ll always be there for him. But as far as their marriage is concerned, that’s over and has been for quite some time. It was time to make it official,” added the insider.

Odom was not shocked by the plan, and he also doesn’t have to worry about finances, because Kardashian plans to continue to give him financial support. But the romance is over, particularly after Odom was seen drinking at a bar with friends, according to the source.

“[She is] very worried about Lamar and his behavior but Lamar refuses to listen to her.”

A recent episode of KUWTK revealed that Odom had talked about the possibility of a reconciliation, and that Khloe had stressed the need for a fresh start.

“We’re definitely getting out of this marriage, because it’s been a little tainted. We need to cut our ties, and we can figure it back out,” she insisted to Lamar.

Fans of Keeping Up with the Kardashians will be able to watch the divorce aftermath on the show, a production source told Entertainment Tonight.

Season 12 currently is on the air, and the production insider predicted that the divorce proceedings probably will not be broadcast during this run. However, it’s anticipated that the family’s reality TV show will feature the drama.

“Nothing is off limits with that family. Of course they’ll address it on camera at some point.”

But the real reason that the divorce is on again has to do with Kardashian’s desire to have children, sources told TMZ.

Those sources revealed that Kardashian explained to Lamar that she wants to create a family for herself, and until she is single, she feels that even starting the process isn’t feasible. She had previously promised she would hold off on filing again until Odom was at the point of managing his daily life, and she feels he has achieved that goal.

However, the decision to file for divorce again from Lamar comes just two weeks after he was seen drinking again, pointed out the Daily Mail.

Odom had been seen drinking cognac at a Los Angeles shopping mall bar, causing speculation that his return to alcohol contributed to Kardashian’s reasons for filing for divorce again.

Because they had a prenuptial agreement, the property settlement remains the same. The former couple will now have to wait out the six months required in California before a judge rules that the marriage has ended.

However, according to Radar Online, Kardashian requested that Odom be banned from getting spousal support.

As part of ending their marriage, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star wants to hold onto “earnings and accumulations [from] before marriage, during marriage, and from and after date of separation.”

In addition, she agrees that the prenuptial agreement should be followed in terms of separate property settlements and any “obligations.” Khloe also stipulated that she does not want to pay any spousal support to Lamar and that she does not desire any from him.

As for attorney fees, she proposed that he should pay his own and that she will take care of reimbursing her own lawyer.
