‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For May 27, Bad Juju Part Deux

The Bad Juju graces Xur’s collection of Exotic goods for sale this weekend in Destiny for only the second time. The Pulse Rifle makes a return appearance along with other familiar Exotic pieces for PlayStation and Xbox players who have the Strange Coins to spend.

This week’s hiding spot for Xur is in the Reef social area. You’ll want to turn right from the spawn point, head down the stairs past the Bounty vendor, and then go in the first door to the right of the bottom of the stairs. The Agent of the Nine is tucked away in a corner on the right. Bungie finally fixed the door issue in Xur’s cubby hole by removing the door.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.

Bad Juju

The Bad Juju used to reign supreme with Voidwalker Warlocks despite having one of the more difficult quest chains. Its use has toned down some for Year Two, but the power of the “String of Curses” intrinsic perk is hard to deny. It reloads the fully automatic Pulse Rifle weapon automatically after each kill and gives a small damage boost. Every kill also provides bonus Super energy, the benefit of which should be obvious. This is a must get for those who have not been fortunate enough to get it from Destiny’s random loot drops.

No Backup Plans

Destiny No Backup Plans Exotic Gauntlets (PlayStation, Xbox)

No Backup Plans has received a nice upgrade for Year Two, but are still a purely personal defense armor piece. The “Force Multiplier” perk is the signature item on the Gauntlets and triggers the Force Barrier with Shotgun kills and the overshield’s duration is increased. This turns Defenders into a more aggressive sub-class in PVP and increases survivability in tight PVE encounters.

The optional Perks include “Rain Blows” and “Momentum Transfer” for a choice between faster melee speed or bonus melee energy on grenade hits. There’s also a choice between faster Shotgun or Rocket Launcher reloads.

The 69 Strength stat roll is just in the right place for No Backup Plans. The choice of optional perks is well suited for the Gauntlets as well to help proc the Force barrier as often as possible.

ATS/8 Arachnid

The ATS/8 Arachnid is for Hunter Gunslingers in Destiny. The “Arachnid Sensorium” intrinsic perk keeps the Golden Gun active for about 4 seconds longer and gives the Super ability a potential accuracy boost via a zoom lens. Meanwhile, it also comes with the preferred “Inverse Shadow” perk, which gives bonus energy when killing minions. The final column perk is “Invigoration” to gain bonus melee energy on Orb pickups.

The pure 75 Intellect stat roll combined with Inverse Shadow will be helpful in getting the Golden Gun out more often. There is not much need to re-roll this piece using Glass Needles.

Starfire Protocol

Destiny Starfire Protocol Warlock Exotic Chest Armor (PlayStation, Xbox)

This marks the first time Starfire Protocol has been sold in Destiny Year Two. It is meant for the Warlock Sunsinger subclass thanks to the namesake perk, which grants an additional Fusion grenade. However, this does not stack with the “Gift of the Sun” perk, so you can still only max out at two. What it does allow is for players to select either the “Angel of Light” or “Touch of Flame” perks, instead.

The third column perks give the choice between carrying additional special or heavy weapon ammo, while the final column perks provide additional Solar Armor or better Void Burn resistance.

The 68 Discipline and 66 Strength split rolls are excellent. There’s really no reason to re-roll this piece, unless a more Intellect focused stat is needed.
