Ashley Graham On Joe Jonas: ‘A Little Cutie-Patootie’
For the past year, Ashley Graham has been challenging our conception of what we find sexy, appearing on the covers of such magazines as Maxim and the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, and she’s only getting started. Ashley recently found herself cast as the love interest to Joe Jonas in a recent DNCE music video, proving that many others share her vision of sex appeal.
Ashley Graham Stars Alongside Joe Jonas In A Sexy New Music Video
The new music video for DNCE’s “Toothbrush” has made a definitive mark on fans of the band, as well as on fans of Ashley Graham for her sexy bedroom romp with Joe Jonas. Graham, meanwhile, extends her own appreciation to Jonas and the rest of DNCE for their willingness to cast a plus-size model as Joe’s lover in the video.
“Toothbrush” features 28-year-old Graham and 26-year-old Jonas as lovers, showing them kissing on a nightclub stairwell and waking up together in bed on the following morning. Ashley says she had a great time filming the video and she adds that the pop group was brave for having her, considering the buzz her appearance in the video was likely to create.
“I applaud DNCE for making that statement that love comes in all shapes and sizes and I think it’s really important to talk about,” says Ms. Graham. “It’s important to showcase what a real relationship might look like on camera.”
In speaking of making the DNCE video, Ashley says Joe Jonas made her feel comfortable and at ease, but was also very professional.
“Sure was good,” exclaims Ashley, upon being asked if Joe was a good kisser. “It was fun and we made it really easy. He’s so professional and so great. A little cutie-patootie.”
Graham admits that there was some confusion regarding her role in the beginning and says that she was never told that she would be the love interest in the “Toothbrush” production. When Graham asked the director how many other women would be in the video, she learned rather bluntly that all eyes would be on her, as the sole woman in the video.
“I was like, ‘What? I’m the love interest?’ And then I got nervous and excited and I [started] pacing. That means we’re gonna kiss, that I’m going to be in bed with him,” says Ashley. “I was like preparing myself but [I thought], I got this.”
“Toothbrush” was the second single to be released by DNCE’s debut album, preceded by the release of “Cake By the Ocean.” The album, Swaay, was released in October, 2015.
In Style Magazine Names Ashley Graham Contributing Editor
Ashley Graham’s fans are already familiar with her work as a supermodel and fashion designer, so her appointment as a contributing editor for In Style magazine should come as no surprise. Graham’s moniker is gradually becoming a household name and it will soon be seen on the glossy pages of In Style with her “Great Style Has No Size” column making its debut in the May and June, 2016, issues.
Ms. Graham says she’s excited about her new position with In Style, because of the opportunity it presents for her career, but also because it will help her to reach out to her fans. Ashley says many of her followers, other women to fall under the plus-size category, have asked her advice on fashion and how they can each look their best. Graham’s position with In Style will help her to answer many of these questions.
“For so long people have been asking me: How do you dress your curves? Which brand do you love? How do you hide this, how do you accentuate that? And I really just wanted to give my 411 on everything curves-related and just give back, in a way.”
