Harry Styles: What Is He Really Like?

Many people have wondered what Harry Styles is really like behind the curly-haired glamour and interview witticisms. How does Harry behave when the cameras are off and he’s alone with his friends?

Harry’s mum Anne has hinted that post-1D Harry is still the same polite and charming lad who worked in a bakery before he became famous. Anne thinks Harry’s celeb status has not affected him at all, reports Now.

“The band might have achieved global fame but Anne insists that Harry hasn’t been affected by his celeb status. ‘he hasn’t changed at all,’ the singer’s mum proudly told a fan on Twitter today.”

Harry’s former One Direction band mate Zayn Malik agrees that Styles is a nice guy, once saying “you’re not a womanizer, you’re a nice guy,” when an interviewer implied that Harry was “the womanizer” of One Direction.

Kendall Jenner insiders say that Harry is lovely but “loosey-goosey” when it comes to romantic relationships, and the flight attendant Harry dated seemed to agree. The evidence seems to point to a super-nice person who is also eager to enjoy some of the freedom and perks (such as lots of girls wanting to date you) that fame brings.

But did you know that Harry Styles is staying grounded because it will benefit his art?

When Styles appeared on the set of Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk — his first film role — this week, Now reported that the super-famous, super-rich star was slumming it in a budget hotel!

“While most celebrities are currently living it up in Cannes, Harry Styles is keeping it a lot more low key on the other side of France in Dunkirk… Now can reveal the global superstar has been slumming it in a £59 a night bed and breakfast while filming for his debut movie role.”

Styles has made some dramatic changes as he prepares to play the role of a young soldier caught up in an evacuation of allied forces from the beaches of Dunkirk, France. Modest surroundings will definitely be helpful in allowing Styles to channel the spirit of a soldier living and working in harsh conditions in 1940s Europe. Harry also cut his hair for the role, saying that he is eager to grow it long again when his current film commitment is over. It sounds like Harry Styles is willing to make big changes to try to ensure that his performance feels authentic.

Another person has come forward today praising Styles for his grounded approach and commitment to his art.

Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic praised Harry for his focus on songwriting over frippery and the trappings of fame. Tedder revealed that when he works with both Harry and Styles’ buddy Ed Sheeran, the songwriting sessions take place in informal settings, without security and hangers-on. Tedder actually says he thinks this is a British trait, noting that celebs in America cannot travel without a massive entourage, which takes the focus off the work and the disciplined process of art-making.

Without naming names, Tedder encourages his American collaborators to follow the example of prolific British songwriters Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles!

In other Harry news, Styles’ former boss Simon Cowell has commented about Harry’s haircut.

The Syco boss seemed blasé about it, though he expressed amusement and wonder about the level of intrigue that surrounds every move Styles makes. Simon was the one who unleashed Harry and the rest of the One Direction boys on the world, profiting handsomely in the process, and it’s amusing to see that even Simon is stunned by what a publicity juggernaut his band has become!

The One Direction guys have insisted that their present hiatus is not permanent, and that they will be back as a four-piece, but NME reports that Simon has commented that he does not know “if it’s a hiatus or a break up.”

“I don’t know if it’s a hiatus or a break-up, to be honest….In a weird way, I don’t want to know. I don’t think they’ve had enough time to experience what it’s like not being in the group to really answer that…Whenever I was with them, we talked about [going on a break], and I couldn’t argue with them”

Cowell also commented on Harry Styles specifically, saying that Harry has a lot of options and probably “won’t rush into” making a decision about who to work with. Simon dropped a hint about a One Direction breakup when he said that he thinks Styles could follow in defector Zayn Malik’s footsteps and focus on a solo career.

The Syco boss also praised Harry for his “great taste!”

“He’ll work out what kind of record he wants to make because he’s got great taste – which is always a help…all the writers and producers want to work with him, understandably, but he probably won’t rush into it.”

Is Harry Styles the best?
