To some, 100 orgasms a day probably sounds like the title of an adult film instead of a serious medical condition, but, in the past, uncontrollable and frequent climaxes have been reported as an issue for women, and another sufferer has come forward with her tale to bring the condition into the spotlight.Uncontrollable, frequent orgasms stem from a condition that has gained attention in recent years, undoubtedly in part to its salacious and seemingly implausible nature. It’s called Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder (PGAD), and, in the case of 44-year-old Kim Ramsey, doctors believe it began when she suffered spinal cysts after falling down stairs.

Ramsey’s uncontrollable and frequent orgasms have, she says, interfered with her ability to live her life in a normal capacity. The nurse reports becoming aroused and experiencing orgasms during a host of innocuous activities such as riding in a train or car, and she explains:

“Other women wonder how to have an orgasm — I wonder how to stop mine… I had constant orgasms for four days. I thought I was going mad. It also happened with a new partner and I even tried sitting on frozen peas.”

PGAD has been studied by researchers in recent years, and a 2008 study of women afflicted with the condition revealed that it occurs in menopausal women who do not show other abnormalities (psychiatric or physical) through examination. The researchers wrote:

“PGAD–or as proposed by our group, restless genital syndrome (RGS) in the context of its strong association with restless legs–is probably the expression of a nonsexually driven hyperexcitability of the genitals and subsequent attempts to overcome it by genital manipulations.”

Researchers suggest that women like Kim Ramsey, who suffer uncontrollable orgasms, can only be helped through further study of the condition.
