WWE News: WWE Superstar Sasha Banks’ Current Injury Said To Be Significant
WWE Superstar Sasha Banks has been known to many as the best female wrestler in the world today, and some would claim she’s better than a lot of the men. Combined with her amazing character and knockout looks, she has become quite popular among a number of fans. Female fans love her, and rightfully so. She represents where female wrestling should be in the world today, and the “new era” is led by Banks when it comes to the females. The men then respect her because she is a female succeeding in a male-dominated world and because she is amazing to watch.
After suffering through years of bad female wrestling in the WWE, Banks, along with the other members of the 4 Horsewomen in Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Bayley, gave us a good reason to become a fan of female wrestling again. They combined with Paige, Emma, Asuka, and Natalya to help change things. They may mostly be friends in the women’s division these days, but friends must fight from time to time.
This brought us to WrestleMania 32 when the new WWE Women’s Title was on the line in a triple threat match with Sasha Banks, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch. It was a great match, with the result being Charlotte winning after beating Lynch. Banks tried to interfere and break it up, but Charlotte’s father, Ric Flair, held her from doing so. This made us believe a match would occur with Banks and Charlotte, but it never happened. This match was then on the books for WWE SummerSlam later this year, but some think it might in jeopardy.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Sasha Banks suffered a pretty serious injury recently during a WWE live event.
The Observer claimed, “She’s hurt. It’s a significant thing. As far as how long… the [injury] they were keeping secret before was a knee [injury]. WWE… They’ll tell you some injuries and then others, they don’t want you to know. That’s the deal. But there’s no way of knowing right now what her status is. Obviously, Charlotte and Sasha were supposed to wrestle in Brooklyn for SummerSlam this year. It’s months away, so there’s still a very good chance that that’s going to happen. But you just never know with a concussion.”
Of course, the knee injury mentioned was one Banks had been going through back in January, which she tried to deny as much as possible. With it not being very serious and WrestleMania being around the corner, there was really no need to talk about it. That’s why WWE seemed to ignore it as much as possible. However, she’s now dealing with a concussion.
Clearly, this is not good for Sasha Banks, but it may at least take some heat off of the WWE. The fans were getting very upset that Banks was not being used much on television. She was being held out for long-term storyline reasons, according to reports. Most didn’t buy into that, as WWE could have easily given her someone to work with. Becky Lynch was being thrown into a rivalry with Emma before the Australian had to leave for a while due to a back injury.
The rumored plan before all of this was to have Banks return to the side of her friend/rival in Lynch because Emma had brought her friend in from WWE NXT, Dana Brooke. The two would be a key problem in the women’s division and become a thorn in the side of Lynch. Lynch and Banks have tagged before, so it made sense for Banks to get involved in this rivalry. It would at least give her something to do for a little while.
Now, of course, Dana Brooke has been paired with Charlotte, and Emma is out. There is no telling what WWE will do with Lynch, but WWE could always have her do something with a soon-to-be-returning Naomi. With Banks injured, WWE is at least off the hook when it comes to giving her storylines for a while.
Here’s the problem: There is still a risk that their long-term storyline with Sasha Banks eventually facing Charlotte may not happen if Banks is out. What is interesting is that WWE is trying to hide some of these injuries, especially to top stars. With Emma and Enzo Amore, it seemed like they had to talk about them. Enzo was the biggest as he was hurt on live television, so they really had no choice.
Meanwhile, Banks was hurt during a live event and could have a serious concussion. WWE wants to avoid all talk about concussions, especially with a major one just happening with Enzo and Daniel Bryan retiring earlier in the year due to having gone through too many. With a concussion lawsuit over their heads, it makes sense to keep things quiet when you can. Hopefully, Sasha Banks gets better soon, as fans miss her a lot at this point.
