‘Game of Thrones’ Spoilers: Fans In Tears After Heartbreaking Fifth Episode

After episode four of Game of Thrones was filled with happy moments and ladies taking charge, fans should’ve expected episode five this week to be the complete opposite. Still, fans had hope that it wouldn’t be too bad. They were mistaken. Beware, spoilers ahead.

In the May 22 episode of Game of Thrones, Bran made the terrible mistake of warging while the three-eyed raven was asleep. Bran found himself face to face with the White Walker King, who we now know is the first White Walker. Bran failed to realize that not only could the White Walkers see him, they could touch him too.

The White Walker King grabbed Bran’s arm, branding him in the present so that he could find Bran and the others. The three-eyed raven told Bran the White Walkers would be coming for them now and it was time for Bran to become the three-eyed raven. However, while Bran and the three-eyed raven warged and Meera and Hodor prepared to leave the cave, the White Walkers showed up in full force.

Leaf, a child of the forest, told Meera they had to leave. Now that the White Walker touched Bran, he could enter the cave and it was no longer safe. Meera attempted to wake up Bran but it didn’t work. The children of the forest faced off against the White Walkers while Meera screamed at Bran to warg into Hodor. Somehow Bran warged into Hodor through his vision and Hodor was able to help, but it still wasn’t enough to stop all the White Walkers.

And that’s when Summer, Bran’s direwolf, and one of the few still left alive, jumped in. As Meera and Hodor escaped the cave with Bran, Summer went up against the White Walkers and met her death. Thus, another direwolf was lost. To add salt to every Game of Thrones’ fans wounds, the origins of Hodor’s name was finally revealed as Meera yelled at him to “hold the door” against the White Walkers. Hodor was then also killed by the White Walkers as Meera, while dragging Bran, made their escape. Meanwhile, inside the cave the three-eyed raven was also killed as he passed the torch to Bran in their shared vision/trip to the past.

So after a week of happiness, Game of Thrones then killed off three (four including Leaf) characters and fans everywhere lost it.

With so much heartbreak and loss in tonight’s episode of Game of Thrones we can only hope we’ll be spared in next week’s episode. What do you think about the episode five of this season of Game of Thrones? Let us know in the comments below!
