Adele Wins Top 200 Billboard Award Following Her Record-Breaking $130 Million Deal With Sony [Breaking]

Adele has just picked up the coveted Top 200 Billboard Award at the Billboard Awards, following hot on the heels of a £90 million (about $130.5 million) record deal with Sony.

According to TVNZ, Adele, a native of London, England, walked away with the award for her record-breaking album, 25, beating out Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Drake, and The Weeknd.

Adele is currently on her world tour and was unavailable to accept the award in person, instead making her acceptance speech through video.

Meanwhile, according to the Telegraph, Adele’s new $130 million record deal with Sony is the largest ever offered to a British musician, edging out the previous record holder Robbie Williams (£80 million) and also taking the highest offered to a woman, topping Whitney Houston’s £70 million. According to a source at Sony who leaked the deal to The Sun, Adele is “the biggest music star in a generation.”

“We’ve secured Adele, who’s without doubt the biggest music star in a generation. This is massive.”

“Adele’s deal with her original label XL expired and we’d an existing relationship with her in America.”

“The deal is being worked on by our Columbia label in the US, but is worth £90 million and gives Sony the rights to release her future music exclusively around the world.”

The deal will allegedly be more than double her £85 million fortune overnight.
