Donald Trump Reaches Out To NeverTrump Campaign, NeverHillary Group Gains Steam

Apparent Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump reached out to his detractors in the NeverTrump campaign this week in an effort to unify the party before the November general election.

The handwritten notes to members of the NeverTrump group, who are considering running a third party candidate against both Donald and Hillary, asked their advice on a list of Supreme Court nominees.

Conservative radio host Charles Sykes was one of the first to receive Donald’s notes and he tweeted out his surprise at the unexpected communication and discussed his intention to remain firmly in the NeverTrump camp on his radio show, reports the Washington Examiner.

“I know that simply writing a note doesn’t change anything. But it would have been unfair on my part not to tell people that at least he did this…At least in this small context, he apparently is willing to be more gracious than his legion of Trumpkins.”

Another conservative radio host, Erick Erickson, a staunch #NeverTrump supporter, also received a handwritten note, as did the National Review, which previously published an “Against Trump” edition, reports The Hill.

“Every note I’ve ever gotten from him was in thick sharpie, scanned as a PDF, and emailed by his secretary.”

The conciliatory efforts come as the presumptive Republican nominee attempts to unite a divided party behind him in preparation for a general election contest against Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton.

Many in the Republican Party have already united behind their front-runner despite their complaints about the billionaire’s unpredictable political style, as key conservative leader Ken Blackwell told Politico.

“I am slow-walking the Donald Trump candidacy. It’s a very deliberative process. You can’t beat Hillary Clinton with nothing, and the question is can we fundamentally energize conservatives quickly and can we use our joint desires to unite to find a path forward.”

Meanwhile, Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton is trying to take advantage of the rift in the Republican Party and reach out to the NeverTrump camp in hopes drawing their support, reports Breitbart.

“If you are a Democrat, an Independent or a thoughtful Republican, you know their approach is not going to build an America where we increase opportunity or decrease inequality.”

The former Secretary of State has her own detractors to worry about, however, and the NeverHillary camp is growing in numbers as a growing number of Americans express their disgust with both potential nominees.

A growing number of voters are increasingly turning to the Libertarian Party as their third party of choice in a bid to steer clear of both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Recent polls show 20 percent of Americans would be willing to vote for a third party candidate instead of Trump or Hillary, reports RedState.

Already, Libertarian candidate Austin Peterson has drawn support from Christian media icon Glenn Beck; while short of an official endorsement, the support shows the country’s mainstream conservatives are open to a third party.

Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson and his vice president nominee, Bill Weld, are also on the radar as the Libertarian Party prepares to vote for its nominee.

What do you think? Would you vote for a third party candidate instead of Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump?
