fake nurse baby kidnapping

Pittsburgh, PA – Breona Moore, 19, allegedly posed as a nurse and kidnapped a newborn from his mother’s arms. The 3-day-old baby boy was recovered without incident from the alleged kidnapper who posed as a nurse to gain access to the child. Breona Moore of McKeesport, Pennsylvania was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and kidnapping, according to the New York Daily News.

Breona Moore allegedly falsely claimed to be pregnant prior to posing as a nurse and entering a Pittsburgh hospital. Moore is accused of kidnapping Bryce Coleman and sneaking him out of the hospital in a bag. According to police reports, the newborn’s mother believed Moore was a nurse and handed her son over willingly. The newborn’s mother was told her son needed to take “more tests.”

Pittsburgh police officers found Bryce Coleman unharmed several hours after the alleged kidnapping and reunited the newborn with his family at the hospital. In addition to the kidnapping and reckless endangerment charges, Breona Moore also faces interfering with the custody of a child and concealing the whereabouts of child charges, according to the Pittsburgh Post- Gazette.

Moore allegedly told Pittsburgh police officers that she had convinced people she was pregnant and had successfully delivered a healthy baby via C-section earlier this week. Moore reportedly posted photos of herself during various stages of pregnancy on her Facebook page, complete with ultra-sound photos. One status update about the upcoming birth of her son read, “I just want to give him so much love.”

Breona Moore’s relatives contacted the police department after hearing about the kidnapping on the news and turned her in. Moore and Bryce Coleman were found inside a closet in a downtown Pittsburgh building. The hospital is reportedly reviewing the events which led up to the alleged kidnapping to discover what improvements could be made to improve security. Breona Moore was ordered to submit to a mental health evaluation and remains in jail on a $250,000 bond.
