NBA Rumors: Phoenix Suns Possibly Trading For Paul George From Indiana Pacers

NBA rumors have been swirling around Paul George. The 26-year-old small forward has been the subject of trade rumors as of late. Indiana Pacers team president Larry Bird has been making some questionable moves since the team’s season ended. Bird decided to not resign head coach Frank Vogel. Now, there are questions about George and his position with the team. If Bird does decide to put George on the trading block, there will be plenty of teams looking acquire the All Star. According to FanSided, one of the teams that will come calling could be the Phoenix Suns. They have been looking for a superstar for their team since the Steve Nash.

During the 2010 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers selected Paul George with the tenth pick. A couple of days before the draft, Marc J. Spears wrote an article about a scout saying that George would be the best player to be drafted in his class. To some people, that is a true statement. The All Star has proven to be one of the best two-way players in the National Basketball Association.

Paul George is the arguably the most versatile player in the NBA. He can defend all five positions on the floor. The All Star has ability to drive the ball, shoot from beyond the arc, and facilitate his teammates’ scoring. During his first two seasons in the National Basketball Association, George played mostly at the shooting guard position.

Paul George had a breakout year during the 2012-2013 NBA season. He became the team’s go-to scorer. On any given night, George has the ability to be a triple-double threat for his team. He has led the Indiana Pacers to the NBA Playoffs in five of his six seasons. The only year George couldn’t lead the team into the playoffs was because he suffered a compound fracture of both his bones in his lower right leg. Many people believed that he wouldn’t be the same player he was before the injury. He proved everyone wrong by having one of the best years in his career.

To many NBA executives, the Phoenix Suns have the holy grail of assets. They have a top five potential pick in this year’s draft, young and promising players, and the depth to give up rising stars without hurting the team’s core. If that hasn’t gotten your attention yet, the Suns have three picks in the first round. Phoenix owns the fourth, 13th and 28th picks.

During the summer of 2013, the Phoenix Suns traded for Eric Bledsoe in hopes of him being the next franchise superstar. The next summer, the Suns signed him to a five-year deal worth $70 million. Some people compared Bledsoe to LeBron James because he can be a triple double threat on any given night. Bledsoe hasn’t done a bad job for the team, but they have failed to reach the NBA Playoffs during the past six seasons. A combination of Bledsoe and Paul George could be one of the best duos in the National Basketball Association.

For the Phoenix Suns to be able to trade for Paul George, the team might have to part ways with point guard Brandon Knight, along with a couple of draft picks. Knight and Bledsoe are both currently playing the same positions. They are both getting high salaries. Both players have proven that they are starters in the NBA.

The Phoenix Suns are looking for a superstar to take the team to the next level to compete for an NBA Championship. The Suns could potentially acquire Paul George from the Indiana Pacers. They will have plenty of assets and money to spend this summer. George has the talent to help turn around a franchise right away.
