White House Beer Recipe Will Be Released If Petition Gets 25,000 Signatures

Did you know that the White House makes its own beer? Well, they do. And since it’s not readily available on store shelves around the country beer connoisseurs are hoping for the next best thing: The White House Beer Recipe.

Most breweries keep their recipes a secret from the general public. But since this is the White House, and since citizens are allowed to submit Freedom Of Information Act requests, there’s a chance that the White House Beer recipe will be released.

In fact, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney promised that at least one of the recipes would be released if the petition gathered more than 25,000 signatures.

Carney wrote on Twitter:

“Got a Q today on @wethepeople petition asking us to share WH beer recipe: If it reaches the threshold, we’ll release it.”

Currently, the petition has just under 7,000 signatures. The deadline is September 17th. If you want to know what goes into a White house beer you can sign the petition here.

The petition reads:

“In keeping with the brewing traditions of the founding fathers, homebrewers across America call on the Obama Administration to release the recipe for the White House home brew so that it may be enjoyed by all.”

According to the Huffington Post, the White House currently brews a White House Honey Ale, a White House Honey Porter and a White House Honey Blonde Ale. All of the beers are made with honey from Michelle Obama’s garden.
