What Really Happened In The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season Finale? [Spoilers]

**If you haven’t watched the Grey’s Anatomy season finale, spoilers follow**

Shonda Rhimes once again does not disappoint, as another season of Grey’s Anatomy comes to an end with more shocking twists for fans. Again, there are shocking comings and goings, and today, fans everywhere have their jaws on the floor. But because this is Grey’s Anatomy, fans were obviously bracing for an end of season death or tragedy that didn’t come, but that doesn’t mean nothing happened.

According to The Inquisitr, last week on Grey’s Anatomy, there were two formal proposals, but only one acceptance. Once again, Jo shot poor Alex down, but tonight, Owen and Amelia will walk down the aisle on Grey’s Anatomy. But it will be a bittersweet day for all involved because of who wasn’t there, which would be Derek, who was supposed to give Amelia away.

E! Online is reporting that, though the drama on the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy wasn’t terminal, that doesn’t mean there won’t be big changes for next season. Jo told Alex the answer was no, and she doesn’t want to marry him, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to stick around. Alex, though, says he wants a big boy relationship, and for all he has been through on Grey’s Anatomy, he deserves some normality.

But, again, this is Grey’s Anatomy, so it’s a bit more complicated. Jo can’t marry Alex because she is already married – but he was abusive, and she ran away and changed her name, so if she files for divorce, he will find her. But, again, this is Grey’s Anatomy, so she doesn’t reveal this to Alex, she tells DeLucca.

And last week on Grey’s Anatomy, Meredith Grey finally got back on the metaphorical horse and hooked up with Riggs. But that too was complicated, because Meredith found out at Owen and Amelia’s wedding that her sister Maggie likes Riggs, and she thinks he might like her.

“I like him. I like him a lot. And I think he likes me.”

And, again, it’s Grey’s Anatomy, and poor April goes into labor just before Owen and Amelia’s wedding, and she can’t make it to the hospital in time. It’s pouring, and she is stuck in a house alone with Ben, whose confidence is waning due to his suspension. The baby is breeched, and a C-section is necessary, so Meredith’s dining room table with no anesthesia it is. Ouch. Does anyone have a baby in an uneventful manner on Grey’s Anatomy?

Entertainment Weekly says that the even bigger news of the night was that Callie is exiting stage left, as Sara Ramirez is leaving Grey’s Anatomy after ten years as their orthopedic goddess. Callie and Arizona worked things out, but Callie bought a ticket to New York to work things out with Penny and decided to leave Grey-Sloan Memorial.

But Ramirez put out a statement, saying that she is not leaving Grey’s Anatomy because she is unhappy; she just needs a break.

“I’m deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family atGrey’s Anatomy and ABC, but for now I’m taking some welcome time off.”

But we will have to wait and see if more of the main players depart as Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr., and Kevin McKidd are all renegotiating their contracts, so fans will have to wait and see who will stay on Grey’s Anatomy for another season.

So as a cliffhanger this year fans will be able to ponder if April and Jackson can now work things out, what will happen between Meredith Grey and Riggs (and Maggie), and what is Jo Wilson’s real name, and will Alex find out that she is on the run from an abusive ex?

Stay tuned for season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy, likely coming in September.
