NFL Rumors: Jalen Ramsey Injures Knee, Not Signed With Jacksonville Jaguars

NFL rumors are swirling around Jalen Ramsey. ESPN is reporting that the highly touted rookie corner back has suffered a knee injury. Ramsey is also said to have been injured before he got his chance to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jacksonville Jaguars haven’t had much luck with first round draft picks as of late. Last season, Dante Fowler Jr went down with an injury and never got on the field. He was expected to have provided the Jaguars with the pass rush that the defense has desperately needed. His rookie season is supposed to take place this year.

Once again, the Jacksonville Jaguars had to witness their first round draft pick go down with an injury. Jalen Ramsey tore his meniscus during practice. Unlike Dante Fowler Jr, though, he is not expected to miss his rookie season in the NFL. Ramsey is going to get a second opinion from world-renowned surgeon Dr James Andrew, but the initial prognosis is that he is only going to miss weeks instead of months.

Another reason why the knee injury might not seem as bad as it sounds is because Jalen Ramsey wasn’t even aware of the ailment during practice. The former Florida State Seminoles star continued with the conditioning program. It wasn’t until his knee became sore afterwards that he realized that something was wrong.

The Jacksonville Jaguars coaching staff believe that Jalen Ramsey will be available when the regular season begins. The team is playing against the Green Bay Packers. Considering the fact that Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, the Jaguars are going to need Ramsey on the field if they want a chance at a victory.

There are those that are concerned that Jalen Ramsey might be injury prone. While playing in high school, he required microfracture surgery to repair damages done to his knee. However, officials with the Florida State Seminoles stated that Ramsey did not have any issues with his knee during his college career.

Some are making a big deal about the injury suffered by Jalen Ramsey because he is not under contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. There’s a chance that he could have been financially screwed, but the Jaguars have every intention of keeping him around long term. A contract between the two sides will surely be signed in the coming weeks.

The Jacksonville Jaguars medical staff has been especially busy this year because of their rookies. In addition to what happened with Jalen Ramsey this week, the staff needs to continuously monitor Myles Jack. The former UCLA Bruins linebacker dropped to the second round of the NFL Draft because teams were concerned about his right knee.

If everyone is healthy by the time that the regular season begins, the Jacksonville Jaguars defense will be tremendously upgraded. Jalen Ramsey, Myles Jack and Dante Fowler Jr add quite a bit of talent to the unit. Plus, the Jaguars handed a huge amount of money to acquire Malik Jackson from the Denver Broncos and Prince Amukamara from the New York Giants in free agency.

If Jalen Ramsey takes longer to recover from the torn meniscus injury, then the Jacksonville Jaguars will need to shuffle their starting lineup. Prince Amukamara is expected to start at one of the corner back positions. Ramsey was supposed to have been the other starter. Davon House should be able to start if Ramsey is not available right away.

Since they are widely regarded as one of the most improved teams in the NFL, many were expecting big things for the Jacksonville Jaguards. The injury to Jalen Ramsey is a bit of a speed bump.
