Jessica White: Mother Of 21-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Strangled By Childhood Friend Says He Was ‘Obsessed’ With Her

The mother of Jessica White, 21, who was allegedly murdered by her childhood friend, Jordan McClanahan, says her daughter’s suspected murderer was obsessed with her and wanted to date her by all means. “He seemed to have some obsession with her…every time he was with her, he took pictures with her. Half of his pictures (on Facebook) are with her.”

As People reports, McClanahan recently walked into a police station and confessed that he had killed his childhood friend Jessica. Police found out that he had hidden her body in an attic crawl space that was concealed behind a false wall in his bedroom. McClanahan has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder and the mutilating of a body, saying he was high on Xanax and Oxycontin at the time of the murder.

Before McClanahan confessed that he had killed Jessica, she had been missing for 14 days. Police confirmed that she was last seen with McClanahan.

Karen White said her daughter was never interested romantically in McClanahan and only saw him as a friend. She went on to say that the two friends only saw each other about twice a year, but when McClanahan’s mother died, Jessica started to see him more often because she pitied him.

The bereaved mother said when her daughter first went missing, she got a text from McClanahan asking if there was anything he could do to help find his friend. “I really care about you guys,” he said in his text, 24 hours after Jessica was first reported missing. “He’s an evil monster, what he did was the worst betrayal,” Karen said.

When she was not hanging out with friends or babysitting for extra money, Jessica was always home with the family, her mother revealed. She added that her daughter loved drawing, reading, cooking, and painting.

“She was always reading and from when she was little, she could color…I always told her she should write a children’s book.”

A few days before she died, Jessica had found an old art easel her mother had given her when she was much younger. She had used it to paint a portrait of her favorite singer, Kurt Cobain.

Karen said the family was trying hard to pick up the pieces and make something good come out of the tragedy they had suffered. Karen said she wanted to do her very best to ensure what happened to her daughter, Jessica, would be seen as strong advice for women. “I want every girl to know, be so careful of who you trust. Do not be afraid to reach out to your family.”

Karen received a text message from Jessica the night of April 23. She had texted her mother and sister that she was at McClanahan’s house in Hazel Park, Michigan, where she had witnessed Jordan being cussed out by his father. An hour later, her phone went off and she was never heard from again.

When she was declared missing, the police visited the McClanahan residence twice. Family and friends conducted extensive searches all to no avail. Jordan McClanahan had claimed that Jessica had left on the night of April 23 and planned on visiting a friend in Detroit. Even though he was under suspicion, there was no evidence linking him to Jessica’s disappearance. According to neighbors, Jordan was acting normal all through that time and even helped with the search.

Hazel Park Police Chief Martin Barner said it was disturbing that Jordan McClanahan was helping the family look for a missing person when he was well aware that the person was dead. He said both Jessica and Jordan had been friends since grade school.
