‘Star Wars Episode 8’ Lightsaber Duel Leaks, And Luke Skywalker Fans Will Love It [Spoilers]

Star Wars: Episode 8 is starting to draw more attention online as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story nears release later this year.

With the continuation of Rey’s story planned for next year, more details are bound to leak in the next several months, and they appear to already be doing so.

Making Star Wars, a site that has had a pretty good track record with advanced spoilers, has shared the details of an epic-sounding lightsaber battle from an unnamed source close to director Rian Johnson’s production, and if true, it will make Luke Skywalker fans giddy.

According to the Star Wars: Episode 8 source, Luke and Rey will find themselves on the planet Ahch-To just before nightfall as the sun sets in the background and a rainstorm rolls in.

Rey’s hair “is pulled back,” the source claims, and she is without her vest from The Force Awakens.

Kylo Ren and his newly formed Knights of Ren will make landfall on the coast, and Kylo himself will advance toward the heroes, sans mask, but with the same cross-guard lightsaber and attire from the previous film.

Rey and Kylo will duel one-on-one and “end up fighting along the cliff face overlooking the nighttime water,” the site claims, adding that Kylo seeks revenge for his disgrace at the end of TFA while the Knights of Ren will go for Luke Skywalker.

The source continued.

“Luke Skywalker engages the Knights on the beach while Kylo attempts to kill Rey.

“The first black knight has an axe and moves towards… Luke but is Force pushed away to his death after being thrown through the air.

“After Luke dispatches the first Knight he ignites his green lightsaber.

“Luke moves through each Knight one-by-one.

“Rey and Kylo’s battle moves up to the side of a cliff.

“Suddenly Rey is nowhere to be seen. She’s taken out of the battle; she’s either wounded or appears to go over the side of the cliff.

“Luke Skywalker casually walks towards Kylo to finish him but Kylo retreats when he sees his crew defeated.

“Luke Skywalker is a bad*ss Jedi and he’ll destroy your squad.

“A lot of wire work was used.”

If that isn’t enough to prime the pump for Star Wars: Episode 8 among Luke fans, then nothing probably will.

That said, these rumors do little to quell speculation over who Rey is and where she comes from on a familial front. While many believe that she is a Skywalker herself, there is ample evidence to suggest otherwise.

For starters, Luke never had a love interest and pursued the lone wolf Jedi course. Sister Leia and brother-in-law Han Solo neither showed a glint of recognition to imply they were her parents or could sense her genes, a detail that likely would have been paid off in The Force Awakens considering the fate of Han.

The fact Disney is playing up the mystery of her background shows she is likely rooted in something familiar to the old series of films — likely the Original Trilogy since there is an unspoken disdain for George Lucas’s prequels.

It’s possible fans could get the payoff to her identity in Star Wars: Episode 8, but it’s also equally as likely that Disney hangs onto that information until the concluding part of the new trilogy.

One thing is certain from her fighting ability in TFA and now, if rumors are true, Star Wars: Episode 8 — she is too skilled to be a Padawan.

That has led some to speculate that she could be a reincarnated version of this classic character. But what do you think, readers?
