A Mega-Crossover Event Will Happen This Fall With Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, And Legends Of Tomorrow

As soon as it was revealed that Supergirl was moving from CBS to The CW for season two, the rumors started swirling. It was thought that there could be a crossover here or one character appearing on another show there. No-one quite thought that The CW would jump in with both feet and expand the universe right away. Well, that’s exactly what they are doing as a mega-crossover event is already being planned for this fall.

Yes, the plans are already being put in place for a crossover event between Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

It took little to no time at all for the rumors of a new version of the Justice League to form on The CW once Supergirl came over. Now, this news of a mega-crossover event coming next season means that it is that much closer to a Justice League TV series actually happening in the future.

According to ComicBook.com, CW head Mark Pedowitz confirmed during a Thursday morning conference call that the crossover is in the works. There were not a lot of specific details revealed about the crossover event, but Pedowitz did say it would be “the biggest one ever.”

In the past, The Flash has crossed over into the world of Arrow. In the same way, Stephen Amell’s Arrow has crossed over onto The Flash. Last season, The Flash made a huge jump by actually crossing over networks and appearing on Supergirl which was on CBS.

It is commonly known that The Flash and Arrow were used to help bring about DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as many characters from both shows actually star on that one. Still, The CW had not yet had a crossover physically happen across all three of the series they already owned.

Adding in Supergirl now makes things a bit more complicated, but it also makes them that much bigger and more exciting.

Pedowitz did confirm that Supergirl is going to run on Mondays this fall, and that means The CW will have comic book shows on every night of the working week except Fridays. As Gizmodo reported, it was then that he made his next statement with a bit of excitement.

“Just imagine what our superhero crossover episode is going to look like come December.”

Just yesterday, Stephen Amell actually spoke about the possibility of a crossover between Arrow and Supergirl. The pick-up of the series by The CW not only keeps fans happy, but it opens up so many new avenues for them in ways of storylines.

Amell didn’t actually confirm the crossover like Pedowitz did this morning, but he was confident that something would happen as reported by Cinema Blend.

“Do bears ‘you know what’ in the woods? I think that it’s highly likely that, if you have four DC superhero properties on one network, that is an opportunity that might not ever exist again, and certainly hasn’t ever existed in the history of television. So I expect them to do something.”

Other networks have crossed over multiple shows in the past, and it has worked rather well. Just last year, NBC worked out a three series crossover with Law & Order: SVU, Chicago PD, and Chicago Fire which was a great success.

Now, The CW is taking things a step further and doing it with four shows.

The CW bringing Supergirl over from CBS could end up hurting the budget of the show, but that isn’t really a big deal. The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow are doing just fine with smaller budgets and are extremely successful. Now, having these four shows do a crossover event, it could lead to many other comic book characters getting their own series and much bigger things in the future. Justice League of America, anyone?
