Matt LeBlanc And Matthew Perry Reunite On CBS For Monday Night Comedy Block

Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry are back together again. Well, they’re on the same network again, anyway. The Friends co-stars both have sitcoms that will air on CBS’ Monday night schedule this fall. LeBlanc will headline the new comedy series Man With a Plan, while Perry is on his third season of The Odd Couple reboot.

Matt LeBlanc told Variety that he thinks it’s ironic that his show will air on the same night as Perry’s, because back in the day, current CBS boss Les Moonves was the man that brought them together.

“It’s funny because Les Moonves put us together in the first place when he ran Warner Bros., so maybe that’s his plan — maybe he’s the man with the plan!” LeBlanc said.

Matt LeBlanc also talked about the possibility of guest starring on Matthew Perry’s show or having his longtime pal guest star on his new sitcom, Man With a Plan.

“Sure. We’ll see what happens,” LeBlanc said. “My show is set in Pittsburgh and I think his is in New York so it’s not too far away, right? Just a train ride!” LeBlanc joked.

While the two pals share space on CBS’s schedule this fall, Matt LeBlanc recently had another type of reunion with Matthew Perry — across the pond. Last month, LeBlanc traveled to London to see Perry perform in the play The End of Longing. LeBlanc posted a photo of the mini Friends reunion to Instagram, which showed them backstage together after the performance.

“Went to see The End [of] Longing last night and ran into this dude,” LeBlanc wrote. “He and the cast were great. Way to go bro.”

LeBlanc also had his pal’s back when he reunited with the rest of the Friends cast earlier this year for NBC’s tribute for legendary sitcom director James Burrows. Perry was unable to attend the event due to rehearsals for his play in London, so when LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer all gathered together for the taping of Must-See TV: An All-Star Tribute to James Burrows, Matt cut host Andy Cohen short after he described the gathering as “the Friends reunion everyone has been waiting for.”

“Whoa, we’re not all together,” LeBlanc said. “There’s one missing. We wish he was here. Matty, we miss you.”

While CBS hasn’t played up the fact that Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry’s shows will both air on the same night this fall, there’s no doubt that Friends nostalgia could help boost the network’s viewership on Monday nights. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the actors’ past history turn up as some sort of marketing strategy or as part of a funny tagline.

As for Friends, Matt LeBlanc told Variety that he still doesn’t get tired of people asking him about the show. The long-running NBC sitcom made him and his co-stars household names, and he is still routinely asked about it despite the fact that the Emmy-winning comedy ended more than 10 years ago.

“It was a big show,” LeBlanc said. “I get it. I wouldn’t be standing here if it weren’t for that show.”

Matt LeBlanc’s new comedy series Man With a Plan will premiere on CBS on Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. starting in October. The third season of Matthew Perry’s The Odd Couple will air Mondays at 9:30 p.m.
