Looks like LL Cool J’s intruder is facing down more severe consequences in addition to a brutal beat-down from the cut-and-stacked rapper. Turns out, under a legal statute, he might be facing life in prison after he heals up.

Jonathan Kirby, the 56-year-old man accused of breaking into LL Cool J’s mansion, suffered a broken jaw, nose, and ribs after the rapper-actor caught him in the act and beat him into submission. After he heals up, Kirby only has life in prison to look forward to. Kirby has priors, and, under California’s three-strikes law, he could get a life sentence for the attempted robbery, reports CNN.

Kirby’s priors, before you go feeling sorry for him: He has previously been convicted of voluntary manslaughter, first-degree burglary, and auto theft. The LL Cool J mansion break-in adds first-degree burglary to his rap sheet.

The legal eagles call the first-degree charge a “third striker” offense. Technically speaking, he could face 38 years in prison if convicted of the charges. Prosecution is asking for Kirby’s bail to be set at $1.1 million, and arraignment for the suspect is not yet set. That’s because he’s still recovering in the hospital from his injuries suffered at the hands of LL Cool J.

LL Cool J plays a former Navy SEAL on NCIS: Los Angeles, and his preparation for the role apparently came in handy after his home alarm system went off around 1 am yesterday. After he spotted Kirby in his mansion, he tackled him and beat him into submission, detaining him until the police arrived.

By the way, here’s a fun fact: LL Cool J’s real name is James Todd Smith.
