‘Psychonauts’ To Debut On PS2 Classics August 28

Fans of great games from the past are in for a real treat when Psychonauts returns as a PS2 classic game on August 28, 2012. Originally released for PS2 and Xbox in 2005, Psychonauts will be available as downloadable content for the PS3 on PlayStation Network. Although no price has been confirmed, most PS2 classics sell for $9.99.

Psychonauts was the very first game from developer, Double Fine, the company that brought you Full Throttle and Grim Fandango. You may also be familiar with Double Fines’s amazing Kickstarter fund raising campaign that took place earlier this year. Tim Schafer’s company raised over 3.3 million dollars from 87,000 plus backers to finance the old school adventure game called, what else, Double Fine Adventure.

The original Psychonauts is a multi-platform platform game that follows the trials and tribulations of a gifted young psychic named Raz (named for Double Fine’s talented animator Razmig Mavlian) after he runs away from his family circus to become a Psychonaut.

Our young hero heads for the Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp, which is actually a top secret US government psychic training facility masquerading as a summer camp. Raz must overcome many obstacles to develop his psychic powers and save his fellow campers from the dastardly plot of Coach Morceau Oleander and the insane ex-dentist, Dr. Loboto, who are out to steal the brains of all the campers. If Raz prevails, he will become a fully accredited Psychonaut agent.

Not only is Psychonauts probably the only game in history that has a child running away from the circus, it is a colorful, brilliantly animated romp, and a heck of a lot of fun. What makes Psychonauts exceptional is the skillful storytelling, the terrific artwork, the witty humor, and the wide open, adventure game atmosphere.

Raz, the Aspiring Psychonuat returns Tuesday On Ps2 Classics

We strongly recommend this wonderful game. You should definitely download a copy next Tuesday and enter the mad, mad world of psychic superstar, Razputin “Raz” Aquato, and his friends, Sasha Nein, Milla Vodello, Ford Cruller, and Lili Zanotto, as they battle to save their brains from an evil ex-dentist. And whatever else you may do, don’t forget to go for a ride on Linda, the gigantic mutated lungfish.
