Former University of Central Florida basketball guard Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, has been fined $250 after pleading no contest to disturbing the peace during a incident outside a Nebraska hotel last month.

Jordan, who averaged 13.7 points as a junior at UCF last season, appeared in Douglas County Court on Thursday with his Omaha attorney, Steve Lefler. He paid his fine after a three-minute hearing and left the courtroom without speaking to reporters.

According to ESPN, Marcus, 21, was arrested early on the morning of July 1 after police responded to a call at the Embassy Suites in downtown Omaha. Per police reports, hotel security was trying to subdue the athlete as he argued with two women in the hotel driveway.

The reports also state that it took multiple officers to finally subdue Jordan and that he was “very animated, intoxicated and uncooperative.”

Marcus was eventually arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Several hours after his arrest and release, Jordan reportedly went back to police headquarters to apologize for his behavior.

“I can assure you, after 35 years of being a lawyer, it’s the first time I’ve ever heard of anybody going to the police station to apologize,” Lefler said. “He’s just been a sweet kid to work with.”

Although he will continue to take classes at UCF, Jordan has reportedly decided to stop playing basketball for the school.

With his decision to quit, Marcus follows his brother Jeffrey, who left the UCF program in January for personal reasons. Jeffrey, a senior at the time, played 13 games for UCF in his final season of college basketball before leaving.
