Sonja Morgan Snaps Back At Bethenny Frankel Over ‘Tipsy Girl’

Sonja Morgan has been working very hard on her international lifestyle brand over the years. Sonja has had a vision for a long time, and that vision included fashion, jewelry, and other goodies for the home. But at no point did Sonja reveal that she was doing a Prosecco line as part of her brand. And when the ladies of The Real Housewives of New York heard that her new line was called Tipsy Girl, some people were quick to think of Bethenny Frankel’s Skinnygirl.

According to a new Bravo report, Sonja Morgan didn’t exactly reference Bethenny Frankel in her blog, but she doesn’t admit to being inspired by Bethenny’s Skinnygirl. While Frankel wasn’t at her birthday party, she will confront Morgan on this week’s episode, where she bluntly says that she wants nothing to do with her. But in her blog, Morgan does reference the haters, and she doesn’t have positive things to say.

“When I told everyone my dream of building my fashion lifestyle brand and how I was spending my time for many years building it, they laughed. Some called me delusional. And that was no BS. It exists. Sonja Morgan New York now has two jewelry lines and swimwear in addition to fashion. I have to stay focused and let the naysayers buzz. I have a tough crowd for friends, but my experiences are mine, and I’m loving every moment! The creativity feeds my soul, and I learn something new every day,” Sonja Morgan revealed in her blog, sharing that she has no intentions of listening to the haters.

Of course, the haters, in this case, are people who are questioning whether her business name is indeed the right one. Some of the ladies did indeed think of Bethenny’s Skinnygirl business when they heard the name. Plus, Frankel does have a Prosecco in her line of spirits as well, so it does seem like it’s a complete copy of an existing product. But Morgan does have plans to make Tipsy Girl into a bigger brand by combining it with a restaurant.

“The Tipsy Girl restaurant has its awning up and will be opening soon on 8th Street, and I will keep you posted,” Sonja Morgan revealed in her blog for The Real Housewives of New York, sharing that she’ll be ready to launch her restaurant soon.

Sonja Morgan has faced some legal troubles on The Real Housewives of New York thanks to Bethenny. Sonja learned that Frankel had filed a trademark so Sonja couldn’t get Tipsygirl — one word — in her business. And if she does start using this name, Bethenny has the legal right to sue her. Of course, Frankel is just trying to protect her own business and brand, since they are indeed so close in name. But Sonja Morgan was shocked to learn this news, according to Radar Online.

“It was surprising at first because she took out a trademark. Tipsygirl, one word, and mine is two words, so I was like, ‘Whoa! What is she doing?’ Then when I reflected, I thought, ‘Well, it’s a business move,'” Sonja Morgan has revealed of the situation according to Radar Online, adding, “I think she basically took it personally that I had done a brand with the name ‘girl.’ So we have yet to see where that’s going to go. She supports me, but at the same time, she thought that was a personal insult to her.”

What do you think of Sonja Morgan’s new alcohol brand? Do you think it’s a copy of Bethenny Frankel’s business or do you think she should have a fair chance at making Tipsy Girl a success? Are you surprised that she’s passively calling out her haters?
