Police use taser on deaf, disabled man who spent too much time in a restroom

taser-fail

Police in Mobile, Alabama used a taser on a deaf, disabled man who had spent to much time in a store restroom…but only after they’d disabled him with pepper spray first.

37 year old Antonio Love’s crime was going to the restroom in a local Dollar General Store and not leaving quickly enough. Store employees called police after Love had been in the restroom for about an hour.

On arrival, police tried to break down the door, however being deaf Love had no idea that the police were on the other side and thought someone was trying to attack him, so held the door shut.

Police then used the pepper spray to get Love away from the door, then despite Love being hunched over a sink trying to wash the pepper spray out of his eyes, they tased him for good measure.

But wait there’s still more. Despite having ascertained that Love was deaf and disabled, police charged Love with disorderly conduct. That charge never made it past a local magistrate, who point blank refused to accept it.

Police naturally are claiming that they did nothing wrong, saying that their actions were “justified” because “he had an umbrella.”

Love’s mother Phyllis Love plans to file a lawsuit against the police department.
