‘Fuller House’ Spoilers: Jodie Sweetin And Candace Cameron Bure Tease More ‘Familiar Faces’ For Season 2

Fuller House will be back for a second season on Netflix, and fans can expect to see some familiar faces, at least according to two of the show’s stars. Entertainment Tonight caught up with Fuller House stars Jodie Sweetin and Candace Cameron Bure, who teased that the new season of the Full House spinoff could feature some familiar blasts from the past.

The Fuller House stars were careful not to reveal too many secrets, but Sweetin dished that her character, Stephanie Tanner, will finally get a boyfriend. The actress stopped short of confirming who will play her character’s beau, but she hinted that longtime Full House fans should have fun with it.

“Who it is, is a really fun surprise,” Sweetin said of her Fuller House romance. “So I think fans are going to enjoy that. The audience [at the taping] seemed to really love it. There could be a connection to [someone from] Full House. It sucks to have to be so vague but Netflix will kill me if I say anything. I want to so bad, but I can’t.”

Production for the second season of Fuller House recently started and the cast had their first live taping last Friday. Bure said fans can look forward to “fun new guest stars on this year.” And its sounds like some of them will be familiar favorites for Full House fans.

“There are definitely going to be some more throwback guest stars on this season,” Bure revealed. “So old Full House fans will have fun seeing some very familiar faces.”

The original Full House was known for its lineup of guest stars; everyone from Scott Baio to Vanna White appeared on the show, and there were some recurring guests, like Stephanie’s bully/bestie Gia (Marla Sokolov), too.

While Sweetin’s Stephanie Tanner gets a boyfriend on Fuller House, Candace’s character, D.J. Tanner, is still trying to figure out her own love life as her high school sweetheart Steve Hale (Scott Weinger) and her veterinary partner Matt Harmon (John Brotherton) continue to try to win her heart. Bure confirmed that both of D.J.’s love interests will be back for the second season of Fuller House.

“Matt and Steve are back! And [D.J.] is ready to make a decision!” Bure teased. “But I can’t tell you what it is! You’re going to have to wait to watch!”

Of course, the biggest throwback guest stars would be Full House alums Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who shared the role of youngest sister Michelle Tanner on the original series. The former child stars declined to sign on to the freshman season of Fuller House, but everyone on the cast had said the door is always open for them. While fans have been hoping for a Michelle sighting, in the Fuller House pilot, it was explained that Michelle is in New York “running her fashion empire,” a joke aimed at the Olsen twins’ real-life careers in the fashion industry.

In an interview with E! News, Fuller House star and executive producer John Stamos said he continues to get asked about the Olsens, and that while he would love to have them back even for just one episode, he has done all he can do.

“I’ve said it,” Stamos said. “I can’t say it anymore. They’re 100 percent welcome and I would love them to do the show this year.”

While he can’t promise that Michelle will come home to San Francisco to visit her family on Fuller House, Stamos did say there will be some “fun” new characters from Season 2.

“We’re adding some fun characters and the legacy cast—that’s what they’re calling us—we’re going to be spread out through the season,” he said. “There are a few guest stars that could be surprises for everybody that I’m working on, but as far as the show, we’re just in a better place to make a good, solid sitcom now.”

Stamos also reveal that there will be more throwbacks and “things people recognize” from Full House in Season 2 of Fuller House.

“Not winks to the camera but tributes to the old one,” he said. “I was thinking this morning: My room got converted into one of the kids’ rooms, [so] the wallpaper should be peeling off and we should see the pink bunnies behind that they covered up, or something. Stuff like that.”

Fans can expect to see Season 2 of Fuller House sooner than later. Stamos revealed that after the success of the first season, Netflix put a rush for the next 13 episodes of the sitcom.
