LL Cool J ‘Safe’ After Mama Told Him To Knock Out Robber, Robber Not So Much

LL Cool J, one of the most pivotal living rappers of our time, experienced a scary thing earlier this week when faced with an intruder in his Studio City home.

LL Cool J was upstairs in the residence when an alarm was tripped, alerting police to the presence of an unwanted party in the LL Cool J home. The rapper and NCIS star could have just chilled upstairs waiting for police, but the rapper took matters into his own hands, raining down destruction, terror, and mayhem on the unfortunate thief.

By the time police arrived at LL Cool J’s house, the rap star had managed to subdue and detain Jonathan Kirby, 56, a man identified as a transient with a long petty-crime rapsheet. (And not the kind that wins you Grammys or gets you a co-starring gig in a J. Lo video.)

According to the Los Angeles Times, Kirby was sliced and diced and is paying the price for his decision to break into LL Cool J’s family home as the trespasser suffered a broken nose, jaw, and ribs during his foray into the rapper’s house. LL Cool J was not injured in the incident.

After the story made the press rounds, a rep for LL Cool J released a statement about the incident, saying:

“LL Cool J, and his family, are safe and thank everyone for their thoughts and concern… As a father, husband and citizen, he is committed to keeping his family safe and is cooperating with authorities on this private matter.”

Kirby was arrested for suspicion of burglary for breaking into LL Cool J’s home and may face a charge of battery.
