Self-Financed Donald Trump Can Win Primaries, But Will Need Wealthy Donors To Win General Election.

The official spin cycle on Donald Trump “ruining” the Republican Party has officially slowed down with the recent meeting between the GOP nominee and Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan.

Inquisitr provides a report on the meeting as part of his political strategy to unify the party, which is likely the reason why the previously prevalent anxiety, from the GOP from the notion that Donald Trump would ruin everything, has seemingly been quelled.

Already in a second week since Trump’s win forced both Ted Cruz and John Kasich to bail out of the race, many Republicans are still reluctant to support him; but, at this point, many are wondering if that might change.

The same source suggested a month ago that Donald Trump’s new political operative Paul Manafort would not be able to control the abrasive mogul, but without any challengers to his campaign and with other states to complete, perhaps there’s still more to come when the general election process starts.

Last week on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Rachel Maddow of MSNBC was interviewed about the campaign, where she wondered why Republicans didn’t get behind Trump as they have more voters for their party than they’ve ever had. She also pointed out that people are taking his policy seriously, when he has no real policy.

In the article regarding Manafort, there are examples of those times when a new Donald Trump appeared with a speech using teleprompters, even when he’s bragged about not using them for his speeches.

In another Inquisitr article about his foreign policy platform, he’s obviously getting help, and according to the more experienced hardliners, his approach was more of a mess.

Even so, the party obviously can’t dump Trump, and Inquisitr also reported on the pressure from House Republicans for Ryan to support Trump, as they felt it would only divide the party more.

The suggestion is that it would be awkward for Ryan to go to the convention, in opposition, and still speak as head for a candidate he doesn’t support. But, soon after Trump won the nomination, Ryan said that if Donald Trump wanted him to step aside from the convention, then he would.

This falls in line with Donald Trump’s position in saying that he would like to unite the party.

Even so, however, it seems that he will still have problems pulling off what he did in the primaries in the general election, because according to the panel on Friday’s Washington Week, he will have to work harder than ever before to get the financial backing to even compete.

“Let me ask you another question about money. Is Donald Trump’s overture about the Republican Party because now in the general he needs their money? He’s not going to pay for it himself?

“Absolutely. I mean it costs almost a billion dollars to run a presidential campaign, He can’t do it, he’d have to be selling buildings because he’s not liquid in that fashion. So he does need the Republican Party; at first he said, the party will finance my general election, they can’t. He clearly didn’t understand about their campaign caps and limits on donations. He’s got to have it all. He’s got to have all of those finances, financial tools to his disposal so as we reported this week, his SuperPAC is holding their first event, they’ve got it scheduled. He’s got his own campaign fundraiser already scheduled, and the thing for him that where this is gonna hurt is a big part of his platform and his attacks, where he called his rivals “puppets” because they were beholden to wealthy donors, Well…”

Certainly, Donald trump has a lot of work to do, and if there’s any truth to the story of him borrowing a million dollars from his father and turning it into more, than the next six months will show whether that’s going to happen.
