Beyonce Wows At Flawless Rose Bowl Concert

Beyonce played before over 60,000 fans at the Rose Bowl last night, and reports are that the concert was flawless from beginning to end. From the parking, to the show, to the aftershow fan departure, Beyonce again showed what the Beyhive is capable of.

Pasadena Now reported on the concert and raved about the Beyonce experience. Queen Bey sang into a gold-plated microphone and changed in and out of a dozen different outfits. She sang and danced for two hours. Among the numbers that Beyonce performed before the sold-out crowd was her rendition of Prince’s “Beautiful Ones,” a tribute to the late music icon.

No issues with Beyonce concert-goers were reported. Among those in the audience were many of the rich and famous including Snoop Dogg, Pink, Ashton Kutcher and wife Mila Kunis, and Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian.

Tickets to Beyonce’s Pasadena performance came at a high price. Selling prices as high as $1,500 were reported for this high-demand performance. Gates opened to the facility at 6 p.m. but fans were lined up hours ahead of time and vendors were set up and selling their wares by 3 p.m.

Before Beyonce took the stage, DJ Khaled got the crowd going as he was joined by Snoop Dogg, Big Sean, and Fat Joe during the opening performance.

The L.A. Times stated that Beyonce greeted the crowd with, “If y’all came to slay tonight, say, ‘I slay.'” They called it “an evening of high-level show business and communal self-empowerment.” The music was a mix of old and new. It included some Destiny’s Child songs, some of Beyonce’s older songs like “Diva,” and, of course, plenty from her latest, Lemonade, including “Baby Boy” and “Hold Up.”

Beyonce went all out for her tribute to Prince as well. After performing “Beautiful Ones,” “Purple Rain” came through the sound system as purple light filled the Rose Bowl stadium, and the audience lit up their cell phones.

But the success of Saturday night’s Beyonce concert wasn’t due only to the music, which shined on its own. It was also due to the visuals and the stage show. The L.A. Times described Beyonce’s performance of “Partition” that involved pyrotechnics, stunning video on a stories-high rotating screen, Queen Bey dancing like a pole dancer, and revolving mirrors behind which Beyonce’s dancers disappeared. Among some of her most impressive vocal performances of the night was an a capella rendition of “Love on Top,” including key changes that “push the tune into a kind of wistful delirium.”

Beyonce’s performance was reportedly full of passion and power and sometimes was not as controlled as normal. But that’s what this tour and Lemonade are about. In her latest, deeply personal work, she expresses passion for everything from relationships to social issues. The very name of the album communicates power, making lemonade from lemons. And that is what Beyonce brought to the stage in Pasadena, California.

Beyonce’s energy was high as she danced to every song, banged her head to “Don’t Hurt Yourself,” and marched to some of her songs. Among the stunning visuals were some of Beyonce literally breaking out of a glass case and burning a house down.

Beyonce’s Rose Bowl performance was the eighth of her Formation tour. In total, Beyonce’s tour will include over 40 performances. It’s a worldwide tour that includes international locations like Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and Germany. The final show of Beyonce’s Formation tour will be in Nashville, Tennessee on October 2. Of the remaining scheduled dates, at the time of this writing, 15 are sold out. Beyonce’s Lemonade album was streamed on Tidal, where it was initially exclusively released, over 306 million times. It brought 1.2 million new customers to the streaming service.
