‘The Vampire Diaries’ Producer Confirms Nina Dobrev’s Personal Visit On Set For ‘Delena’ Scene

Fans who tuned in to The Vampire Diaries Season 7 finale were not imagining Nina Dobrev’s voice because it was really her who spoke. Nina made a cameo in the season ender where she begged for Damon’s help. Executive producer Julie Plec revealed that the show’s former lead star indeed visited the set to help them out.

According to Julie, Nina personally went for the ADR or automated dialogue replacement. At first, the crew members suggested gathering words from a bunch of The Vampire Diaries episodes, but Nina opted to do the scene in person. “It was a nice little personal Nina visit,” said the thankful producer.

However, before fans hope for her return, Julie said that she’d stick with her plan to not include Nina in the show. The Canadian actress left The Vampire Diaries as she wanted to spread her wings and try doing films. For Julie, Nina’s doing great in her chosen endeavor.

“Obviously things can change throughout time, if the show goes on longer than we expect it to, or if we all collectively decide it would be fun to bring her back earlier, and she wanted to. But in my opinion, she was very clear about what she wanted the next step in her life to be, and she’s doing a great job of achieving that. So I’m sticking with my side of the plan, which is to bring her back at the very end.”

It is reported that The Vampire Diaries has been dodging the axe from The CW. Julie previously assured fans that the show would continue as long as its key cast members remained committed, but this statement might not ring true given the show’s current state.

Julie recently admitted that this year’s finale was exceptional because the writers had to wait for renewal announcements until the last minute. While filming, they were thinking of ways how to make the season “as twisty and turny and as epic” as the former seasons because the show’s fate was uncertain.

Ian Somerhalder also clarified his now deleted tweet which implied that the show would soon end. “We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice,” the tweet read. Following the fans’ reaction, Ian took to Twitter to retract his statement.

“Somehow in my infinite wisdom and end-of-season foggy brain, I managed to make it sound like the show was coming to an end. Thing is, the people who actually make that decision (CW and WB) haven’t made it yet! So let’s take things one step at a time: Season 7 wrap, vacation, lots of sleep, let the writers get started on Season 8, and then we’ll all see where we go from there.”

Last month, it was revealed that Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie, will soon bid Mystic Falls farewell. She told Us Magazine that The Vampire Diaries Season 8 is her last.

“Season 8 will be my last season. I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with me. If the crew can come with me, then we’ll be good. The crew is going to be the hardest thing to let go, because we are a family.”

While Paul Wesley and Candice King’s tandem remains popular, will the duo manage to continue despite the absence of the show’s three other lead stars?

The CW has not yet released its official fall line-up, but based on the previous season premieres, The Vampire Diaries might make its grand return in early October.
