Harry Styles Cut His Hair For New Movie Role, Will Star As ‘Tommy’ In Upcoming Christoper Nolan Flick

Harry Styles didn’t just cut his hair off for reason, Directioners! The Daily Mail reports that the One Direction band member chopped off his signature long locks for his role in the movie Dunkirk, which will be directed by Christopher Nolan.

According to the Daily Mail, Styles has a major role in the film and will play a Second World War “Tommy” or soldier in the movie. Harry will be acting alongside Kenneth Branagh, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Mark Rylance. This will be Styles’ first appearance in a major theatrical release.

The film will tell the story of the evacuation of Allied troops from the French city of Dunkirk during World War 2. The evacuation was a British military operation that saved over 300,000 Allied soldiers trapped in the harbor and encircled by the German army.

When Deadline first reported the news that Harry was cast in the film, they claimed that Styles scored the role after an extensive “casting process” conducted by Nolan, his co-producer and partner Emma Thomas, and the studio Warner Bros.

Variety reports that production on Dunkirk was scheduled to start in May, and filming will be done in Europe for the most part. The film will be an action-thriller, which is to be expected from director like Nolan, who is best known for directing The Dark Knight trilogy (2005-2012), Inception (2010), and Interstellar (2014).

Harry Styles announced via a cryptic Instagram picture last week that he had cut most of his hair off. Styles posted a photo of many presume is his hand holding a long braid of dark brown hair. The caption of the photo was short and sweet: “Whoops #littleprincesstrust”

Harry reportedly donated his shorn locks to the Little Princess Trust, a charity dedicated to making wigs for kids that have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

The news of Harry’s new haircut caused a meltdown among One Direction fans online, and as Bustle reports, it inspired the creation of a new genre of memes: Harry haircut memes.

One Direction’s current hiatus from recording music and touring means that Harry has lots of time to pursue projects like Dunkirk, which on paper seem a little out of his wheelhouse.

But if you’re still in need of your One Direction fix, you’re in luck. The band is scheduled to appear in cartoon form on an episode of Family Guy. Rolling Stone reports that the boy band’s cartoon doppelgangers were featured on the May 15 episode of the popular show. The name of the episode is “Run, Chris, Run” and the Made in the A.M singers appear in one of Stewie’s flashbacks.

In the hilarious scene, Stewie is boasting to the family dog, Brian, about his talent for relating with young people. Then we cut to a scene by a campfire where Stewie is telling scary stories to One Direction.

“So they checked into their hotel suite, but the minibar had no sparkling water, only still!,” Stewie tells the astonished group.

According to Rolling Stone, each member of the group was animated for the Family Guy episode, but only two, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, voiced their cartoons.

“Liam and Louis were very funny and an absolute pleasure to work with,” Family Guy co-executive producer Cherry Chevapravatdumrong said in a statement to EW. ”
