‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Kit Harington Reveals Jon Snow’s Greatest Gift

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has given fans of the series some profoundly memorable moments as the iconic Jon Snow, but the actor now reveals that playing the character has given him something in return. It might be said that it has been the greatest gift ever granted, and that, of course, is the gift of love. Kit expresses the experience of finding love with a fellow Game of Thrones star and how playing lovers on the series affected their real-life romance.

Harington reveals that, although he and Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte on Game of Thrones, recently went public with their love affair, the two have been dating since 2012. Romance for these two Game of Thrones actors has been an on-again, off-again affair, but it seems they have each made the commitment to making it work, because Harington and Leslie publicly revealed their relationship for the first time this April. Kit and Rose were spotted together at the 2016 Olivier Awards at the Royal Opera House in London and even shared some public displays of affection on the red carpet, thrilling Game of Thrones fans with the revelation that their romance had been carried off screen.

Leslie and Harington were introduced on the set of Game of Thrones during Season 2, and Kit now says that the second season is his favorite time in the history of the Game of Thrones history.

“Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love,” the Game of Thrones star said. “If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it’s becomes very easy to fall in love.”

As it turns out, Leslie has a very special place in the hearts of the Game of Thrones producers, as well as in Kit’s own heart. The actor reveals that only a handful of people were permitted to know anything about Jon Snow’s return from the dead, and among them was Rose Leslie. Kit says he told Rose from early on and that she basically knew all along, even though Ms. Leslie has denied knowing anything at all, where that particular plot twist was concerned.

“So I was kind of, like, just as surprised as the rest of the world when the man woke back up again,” said Rose in a previous interview, insisting she knew nothing of Jon Snow’s fate.

Harington Reveals That He Told One Other Person That Jon Snow Was Going To Be Brought Back On Game Of Thrones

Everyone involved with the Jon Snow story arc on Game of Thrones were very diligent about keeping the surprise twist a secret, even through the show’s long hiatus. Kit says, from his own perspective, very few people knew that Snow was going to be revived in Season 6 and those people were immediate family. Harington says he told his parents in addition to girlfriend Rose Leslie, but no one else.

Pressed on the issue during a recent visit to The Tonight Show, Harington reveals that he felt compelled to tell just one stranger about the upcoming Game of Thrones twist and that person was a traffic cop.

“I was driving back from my parents’ house and I was driving too fast, I was just being a bit naughty,” the Game of Thrones actor said. “I was going over the speed limit and I feel the sirens go off behind me and this policeman comes up, pulls me over.”

The officer must have recognized Kit immediately, because he wasted no time in bribing him for the much sought after Game of Thrones spoiler.

“He said, look, there’s two ways we can do this: You can either follow me back to the police station now and I book you in or you can tell me whether you live in the next series of Game of Thrones,'” Harington said.

He said he told the police officer he is alive in Season 6.

“And he goes, he says, ‘Mmmhmm. On your way, Lord Commander,'” Harington said.

The next episode of Game of Thrones airs on Sunday, May 15, on HBO.
