Malaysian Blogger Arrested for Anti-Government Comments Online
Authorities in Malaysia arrested editor and founder of Malaysia Today Raja Petra Kamarudin for posting anti-govenment comments on his website.
Late last month, we reported about how the Malaysian government unsuccessfully blocked Kamarudin’s website. This time, however, the government opted to silence him by bringing him in and locking him up for inciting hate on Islam.
The British-born Kamarudin could be detained indefinitely without trial under the Internal Security Act. You know, oppressive regimes always have their way to keep you inside your jail cell.
We’ll see how bloggers all over the world will react and if they can pressure the Malaysian govenment to release Kamarudin.

This is really shocking. I think Asia is still lacking in democracy and openness.

I cant belive this is still happening in our time. The man just posted his feelings [ doesnt matter if there were bad ones] on his blog. Not familliar with their laws and politics, but if the guy was right about what he was blogging, then he was making his point. Many bloggers own posts anti-goverment, but I dont see them locked up.
Regarding of what you said, I dont think if even all bloggers will claim this action not fair, their goverment wont realese him.. sadly

They did ? I guess they can't do much too.
I wonder why couldn't they blocked Kamarudin’s website? Maybe its hosted out of the country?
Or can they do that under international laws and governance?

It is very sad to hear this news, isn't it? So we also have to be more careful when we post some words in the blogs.

I appreciate the concern which is been rose. The things need to be sorted out because it’s not about the individual but it can be with everyone.
