A man in Seattle was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly sent a threatening message to President Obama via email. The Secret Service arrested Anton Caluori, 31, at his home after he answered the door brandishing a shotgun.

The Associated Press reports that Caluori was arrested for making threats against the president and assaulting a federal officer. It’s unclear what Caluori said in the email or if the FBI found the threat credible. US attorney’s spokeswoman Emily Langlie said that the threatening email was sent to a general purpose FBI email address.

Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock didn’t discuss the details of the email but did say that it was a threat to kill the President.

An FBI and a Secret Service agent decided to investigate the threat. When they arrived at Caluori’s home in Seattle, the two agents were greeted with a shotgun.

Shrock said:

“The shotgun was coming up to point in the direction of the agents … The two officers were able to close in and take control of the weapon before anyone was harmed.”

Shrock also said that the man had a pistol strapped around his ankle. The house was also searched for explosives since Caluori mentioned a bomb in his email threat to Obama.

Caluori’s mother, Renee, said:

“He has a good education, he’s a good boy, but he’s done a stupid thing … I don’t know a whole lot (about the situation).How would you feel if your son got arrested? Never got arrested, was in the military, has a college education. And I’m just a little bit upset and shocked.”

Anton Caluori is scheduled to appear in a federal court at 2 pm.
