‘Saved By The Bell’ Alum Tiffani Thiessen Cooked Up The Recipe To Reunite With On-Screen Love Mark-Paul Gosselaar

Saved By The Bell alum Tiffani Thiessen finally has a recipe to land a special appearance by Mark-Paul Gosselaar on her new television series.

Thiessen revealed her plan to viewers this week as the host of the Cooking Channel’s Dinner At Tiffani’s brought her former on-screen love interest and long-time friend Mark-Paul Gosselaar on the show for the season’s finale, Entertainment Weekly reported. After news about the special appearance broke, Mark-Paul shared an image on Instagram with his wife, Catriona McGinn, along with Tiffani and her husband Brady Smith to confirm the news.

Tiffani also took to her Instagram account to promote the TV reunion with her Saved By The Bell co-star Mark-Paul Gosselaar. The pair were paying homage to their roots, wearing clothes that would have made Zack Morris or Kelly Kapowski happy, Thiessen wrote in a post promoting the reunion.

“Tonight is the night for denim on denim. Lol. Season 2 finale of #dinnerattiffanis on @cookingchannel w/ this guy @mpgosselaar (And don’t worry as Season 3 is about to starts [sic] shooting this summer. Woohoo!)”

The thespians have had respectful careers since their time playing high-school and college kids on Saved By The Bell. Mark-Paul Gosselaar has landed roles on several different TV shows, including stalwarts like NYPD Blue and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Gosselaar has enjoyed individual success beyond these shows, however. Mark-Paul has appeared in numerous movies and landed co-star or leading roles on TV shows, too. Gosselaar most recently finished a run on Franklin & Bash, serving as a lawyer alongside Breckin Meyer.

Thiessen has had enjoyed a strong career. Immediately after she and Mark-Paul finished Saved By The Bell, Tiffani had a role on Beverly Hills: 91210 waiting on her. Thiessen played the recurring role Valerie Malone until the series ended in 2000.

Since that time, Tiffani had several forgettable roles until landing a leading role on White Collar, a show about a high-roller criminal turned informant. When the series ended in 2014, Thiessen immediately turned to the Cooking Channel, turning a passion for cooking into a new career. Tiffani announced several times on her Instagram account that the show Dinner At Tiffani’s was renewed for a third season, something she will start shooting later this year.

This isn’t the first reunion for the Saved By The Bell cast. Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen both appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in 2015 along with former cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley. The reunion was for a segment to kick off the new season for the late-night programming, and it received plenty of positive reviews.

The reunion between Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen isn’t the only thing fans of Saved By The Bell have to look forward to this year. An announcement by the comedian who ran the restaurant that frequently popped up on Saved By The Bell, The Max, would be opening in Chicago this summer based off the fictitious eatery, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“We needed a place that would allow fans to feel as if they’ve been transported back to Bayside and are fully immersed in the universe of the show,” Derek Berry, the mastermind behind the restaurant, said in a recent interview. “The final look of the space is going to be a dream come true and deliver the grand slam nostalgic experience everyone has been waiting for.”

The reunion and restaurant are as much as Saved By The Bell fans can expect to see in the immediate future of a 1990s staple. While other shows have recently enjoyed reboots, such as Netflix’s revival of Fuller House, Tiffani Thiessen explained that she was not prepared for a reboot of Saved By The Bell, saying that it would “never” happen.
