‘FlushTarget’ Truck To Visit All Target Stores In Minnesota Urging Boycott Over Transgender Bathroom Policy

The “FlushTarget” truck is a new strategy to encourage shoppers to boycott Target stores over their transgender bathroom policy. The truck features a huge picture of a man entering a women’s bathroom and a little girl looking intimidated. It has a caption saying, “What about her rights to privacy and protection?”

The campaign was organized by LifeSiteNews, which started with a press conference Monday morning in the Minnesota state capitol. They launched a website for their campaign simultaneously, FlushTarget.com.

Claire Chretin, national spokeswoman for the LifeSiteNews and #FlushTarget campaign said, “Everyone has the right to use the bathroom safely and in privacy without fear of being raped or assaulted. Unfortunately, Target, one of America’s largest retail chains, has decided to let any man access women’s bathrooms in their stores.”

The FlushTarget truck will visit every Target store in Minnesota over the next few weeks, according to LifeSiteNews. Minnesota happens to be Target’s home state.

Target announced their new policy on April 19 which says, “We welcome transgender team members and [customer] guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.” This means that a man may use the women’s bathrooms or fitting rooms at their own discretion.

“In our stores, we demonstrate our commitment to an inclusive experience in many ways.”

Chretien went on to explain, “We are not boycotting Target out of fear of the LGBT community. Target can accommodate men that dress as women in a way that doesn’t put women and our young children at risk. Instead of seeking solutions that are safe for both transgender people and women and children, Target has embraced an approach that emboldens predators, threatens women’s safety, and undermines any basic sense of decency.”

Also at the press conference was Julie Quist, Board Chairman of the Child Protection League. “Target’s policy puts women and children at risk. Sexual assault is a crime of opportunity. Target has created the opportunity with its new policy.”

When Minnesota billboards refused to allow the FlushTarget advertisement, Chretien said the FlushTarget truck was the next strategy. “We had to resort to using a billboard truck to get our message out after every billboard company in Minnesota turned down our advertisement. It would seem ‘political correctness’ has now trumped ‘free speech’ even in the advertising industry.”

“In a society plagued with astronomical sexual assault rates, it’s unfathomable to me as a young woman that Target is contributing to rape culture by giving grown men unfettered access to women’s restrooms,” Chretien stated.

“Every species consists of males and females, but it seems the most intelligent species has forgotten this,” she said. “Men and women are not interchangeable. Despite the distinct differences between the sexes, something men and women have in common is a natural sense of privacy. Target’s absurd policy has created the opposite of a safe environment and is directly contributing to rape culture and the abuse of women, our bodies, and our spaces.”

Target’s stock has fallen $4.5 billion since announcing the transgender policy. CEO Brian Cornell said during a May 11 talk show, CNBC’s Squawk Box, that they will not be adding single-sex bathrooms but instead will have family bathrooms.

Cornell said, “We’re committed over the next few months, to make sure every one of our stores has that option, because we want to make sure that our guests be welcomed in our stores. But if there’s a question of safety, I can tell you and others, our focus on safety is unwavering, and we want to make sure we provide a welcoming environment for all our guests, one that’s safe, one that’s comfortable.”

Cornell compared the installation of single-sex bathrooms to accommodate transgenders to racial discrimination in the 1960s, when African Americans were forced to use different bathrooms, according to Breitbart. Cornell insists that he’s made the right decision for his company, even though Target’s stock took yet another dive after his appearance on the talk show.

Target is closing all of its Canadian stores and will be claiming a loss on its fourth quarter earnings. Target has lost over a million customers due its stance on transgender bathrooms.

LifeSiteNews said they will take the FlushTarget truck to visit Targets in other states if they can get the funding.
